It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas David "Dave" Sylvester, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side on the morning of June 13, 2026, in his 86th year.

Dave leaves behind his beloved wife of 57 years, Leona Sylvester (Cooper), whose love and devotion were the foundation of a lifetime of cherished memories. He was predeceased by his loving daughter, Charlene Jordison, and is now reunited with her in Heaven.

He will be deeply missed by his devoted son-in-law, Dale Jordison, who provided exceptional care, love, and support during Dave's final months. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren, Jessica Seltzer (Austin Seltzer) and Kendra Jordison, who brought him immense pride and joy throughout his life.

Dave was the beloved son of the late Thomas and Ethel Sylvester (Ducharme). He was a loving brother to Diana Mosco (Jim, predeceased) and Nancy Sylvester (predeceased), as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Ontario.  Dave spent 40 yrs working in industrial sales and management, servicing the mining and industrial needs in the Kirkland Lake area. Dave spent much of his life in the community he loved, where he raised his family and built lifelong friendships. A dedicated member and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 2748, chairman of the Holy Name of Jesus Parish and a board member of Hockey Heritage North, he was always willing to lend a helping hand and contribute to the betterment of those around him. He also enjoyed spending time with friends playing baseball and treasured the camaraderie those years brought.

Later in life, Dave moved to Little Current to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. There, he quickly became an integral part of the community he so dearly loved. He served as President of the Manitoulin Health Centre Auxiliary, member of the Manitoulin Health Centre Hospital Board and was an active member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Dave will be remembered as a man who consistently went above and beyond in service to others, leaving a lasting impact wherever he lived.

Anyone who knew Dave also knew of his unwavering loyalty to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Through every season, he remained a devoted fan, always hopeful that this would finally be their year.

Dave's kindness, generosity, sense of humour, and dedication to his family and community will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service, compassion, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph's Lodge in Gore Bay for the compassionate care, kindness, and dignity they provided to Dave during his final days. Their support and comfort meant so much to both Dave and his family.

Visitation will be held at the Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative – Kirkland Lake Chapel (111 Burnside Drive, Kirkland Lake, ON) on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. In keeping with David’s faith, a funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

I started to work with Dave in 1963 at Northern Canada Supply. At 16 working wholesale company with thousands off items was hard put Dave at the time was the pricer and took the time to help me understand the business. As was mentioned Dave was such a maple leaf fan we had a bet in cup final between Montreal and Toronto which was last time Toronto won. Dave truly had a heart off gold in so many ways. His love for Leona and birth off their daughter and all he did in the community. God bless my friend and thank you for our friendship for 63 years.
