With deep sadness, we share the passing of Roger John Greer on March 25th, 2026 at the age of 69. Surrounded by family, he left us with the same exceptional clever and witty humour that he shared with us every day.
Roger was born in Kirkland Lake on March 26, 1956 to parents Asa Greer and Mary (née Hall). He was the youngest of four children, the only boy among three older sisters, Suzanne, Sharon and Sandra (Claus). He knew and loved the North, its quiet lakes, wildlife, and birds, especially the return of the bald eagles. He was a hardworking man who held many roles throughout his life, from mining to forestry, always providing for those he loved.
Roger always cared for the underdog, and was never afraid to step in with helping strength when you needed it. He had a great heart, was thoughtful and bright, and truly one of a kind. If you were his friend, it was for life - and he had MANY friends. He found comfort in the quiet moments with his beloved dog Cara by his side, while Marley and Missouri wait to welcome him once more at the Rainbow Bridge.
Roger was a man who loved his family above all else, and protected them fiercely. His wife Cindy was the love of his life, a partner who was able to challenge him and love him equally. He was a guide and mentor to his son Ryan, always on the go together with ATVs, sleds, boats and trucks. He was also a stepfather to Marianna (Chris) and Marcella (Darcy), embracing the role and welcoming them into his life and heart as adults. He was a proud and loving “Poppa Rog” to Hunter, Griffin, Nora, and Maren.
He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him deeply. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength that will carry on through all who knew him.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held in the spring.

My heart is with you family as we celebrate the life of Roger.
We lovingly called him "Uncle Roger." I fondly remember him pulling into our driveway to visit multiple times a week; His sweet smirk, quick wit and words of encouragement. We visited for hours each week. He was a dear friend to Nelson, and many. He will be dearly missed.
