It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rada Radionka Mitic, who passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Blanche River Health Hospital at the age of 83 years old.
Rada was born on August 2, 1942, in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, where she spent her early years before building a life in Kirkland Lake.
She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Olgica, and her husband Dimitri. She was a devoted and loving mother, Rada was the heart of her family. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Tania Mitic and Nena Selbie (Shane) and fury best friend Molly. She also leaves behind many loved family members in Yugoslavia, as well as many dear friends who will deeply miss her.
Rada was an incredibly proud grandmother to her four grandchildren—Mackenzie Selbie, Lauryn Selbie, Laiken McGinnis, and Erika McGinnis—who brought her endless joy and were the light of her life. Rada was an incredibly hard worker who loved cooking and baking her traditional European meals, she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, strength, straight forward nature, and her unwavering love for her family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, doctors and many who cared for her, especially Dr. Brian McPherson and Dr. Jessica Moore, as well as her PSW, Tracy, for their compassion and support.
As per Rada’s request, there will be no service.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blanche River Health Foundation in her memory.
She will be forever missed and always remembered

So very sorry to hear of Rada's passing. Although I didn't have an opportunity to interact with her in the past few years, certainly remember her fondly from my experience working summers at the MNR tree nursery. Rest in peace Rada.
