It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Michael “Buckwheat” Lelievre, aged 57, of Kirkland Lake, on April 5, 2026.
Born on May 16, 1968, in Hamilton, Ontario, to Helen and Claude, Michael relocated to Larder Lake in the mid-1970s with his mother and brother.

Renowned for his infectious smile and exuberant sense of humor, Michael was a generous individual who embodied a zest for life, earning him widespread admiration.
His affection for the family cottage on Crystal Lake was evident through the numerous photographs he shared on social media.
Following his graduation from KLCVI in the mid-1980s, Michael briefly explored the business and accounting field at Cambrian College. However, he soon pursued a career
as a machinist at Heath and Sherwood (1964 Ltd.), a role he maintained until recent health challenges. Michael's passion for music, particularly Rock and Roll, was ignited through his DJ work,
where he met his wife, Sharon. Together, they built a life and welcomed their son, Nicholas. As Nicholas grew older and began playing minor hockey, Michael devoted considerable time and energy
to the Kirkland Lake Minor Hockey League. He also spent time with the Kirkland Lake GoldMiners Junior hockey club.
Michael is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Claude. He leaves behind his wife, Sharon; son, Nicholas (Briana); sister, Anita (Peter) Bowker; brothers, Tony (Jo-Ann) and John LeLievre; nieces and nephews,
River Lachlan and Victoria Bowker, Scott (Carolyn) Hudson, Sarah (Mike) Godin, and Emma Lelievre; as well as numerous cousins, friends, and acquaintances who will deeply miss him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 18th, at Kirkland Lake Legion Branch 87, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kirkland Lake Minor Hockey League, Larder Lake Ski Club, or a charity of one's choice that resonates with Michael's spirit. Otay!
