In memory of

June Moore

1934 - 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of June Ida Moore on the morning of March 4, 2026, at the age of 91. June was born on July 1, 1934, in North Cobalt, to Rose Hedman (Morin) and John “Ed” Hedman. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Kirkland Lake, where many of her memories were made.

After 20 years, she retired from the Peterborough Board of Education and travelled across this beautiful country from Newfoundland to British Columbia. She was famous for her perogies and affectionately known as “the butter tart queen”. June always enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends and was happiest when she had a kitchen full and plenty to share.

June was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Brian and Don, her sisters, Margaret (Tussie) and Evelyn (Fa); her husband, Walter Chliszczyk; and her eldest son, Gordon (Carol).

She leaves behind her loving sons, Randy and Barry (Sue); her grandchildren, Shelley, Aaron and Jordie; as well as many great and great-great grandchildren.

To say the staff at TPR Toburn Unit provided special care for Mom would be an understatement. Our family will be forever grateful for the compassion and kindness they showed her.

In keeping with June’s wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be interred with her parents in Kirkland Lake at a later date.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

My auntie June was a little spitfire. Her heart was huge, she had a lot of love to give and she never wanted to impose. I loved when she "imposed " on me. I have some of her hand written recipes, one of them being scalloped potatoes. There was no mistaking her laughter. I will miss that laugh but will always keep her close to my heart. What a lovely lady never to be duplicated. Many many fond memories growing up. Xxoo RIP auntie June.
