With broken hearts, we announce that Janet confidently and courageously ended her
long battle on December 5 th , 2025 surrounded by the support and admiration of her
family. Born on August 11, 1957, in Leamington Ontario, she spent her childhood in the
Wheatley circle. She loved the outdoors, and after raising their children in Chatham,
she and Doug moved to Larder Lake to spend their ‘retirement’ years. There, she
enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, ATVing and snowmobiling. Janet was an active
member of the Larder Lake Seniors Club and the Red Hat Society.
Janet made lifetime friends everywhere she went and was a support and confidante to
so many. Her warm, welcoming nature and infectious laugh drew people to her with
ease. She loved to create and spent many hours knitting, crocheting, and sewing
cherished gifts for those fortunate enough to receive them. Janet lived authentically -
guided by her own values and embracing life in a way that was true to herself, never
feeling compelled to conform to anyone else’s expectations.
Predeceased by her faithful husband Doug earlier this year, she leaves behind many
who loved her deeply. She was a devoted Mother to Cheri Fife (Brian), Juli Chouinard
(Paul) and Robert (Wendee); and a loving stepmother to Cindy (Marc Hampel), Wanda
Cox (Greg), Tina (Dan Moore), and John (Candace). Janet was a special “bonus Mum”
to Judi Gardiner (Kirk) and Kerri Lessard (Shane) and so many others. She was a
doting Grammie to Stephen, Brittany, Amanda, Marc Jr, Courtney, Jennie, Mackenzie,
Hannah, Kara, Nichole, Amy, Xavier, Karly, Romy and William. Survived by her brother
Cliff Chute and brother-in-law Lloyd. Predeceased by her parents Thomas and Helen
(nee Forsythe) Chute and her sister Beth Clements (nee Chute). She will be
remembered by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, extended
family members and most everyone lucky enough to have met her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society would be
appreciated.

I have such a feeling of awe and respect when I think of Janet. Having witnessed her as a pillar of strength during my own times of loss.. and how she's helped others navigate through unimaginable grief while dealing with her own illness.. really speaks to her character! For her to take charge of her own destiny and follow through takes true and admirable strength. The heartbreak you all must be going through is tragic and so very difficult.
