It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Harry Jones, who died peacefully on January 22, 2026, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, surrounded by his loving family. Harry is now reunited with the love of his life, Verna Jones, after 18 years apart. Their bond was one of devotion, strength, and enduring love, and his family takes comfort in knowing they are together again.
Harry will be forever remembered and dearly missed by his six loving children: Debbie, Patti, Mark (LeeAnn), Colin (Sandy), David (Christine), and Sherry (Dave). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Christopher, Michael, Leanna, Christian, Justin, Travis, Dylan, Eve, Luke, Kirsten, Mike, Kyle, Emily, Evan, Erik, Gavin, Ethan, Kiara and Jayden, as well as a cherished great-grandfather to Marissa, Kaitlyn, Elizabeth, Brandon, Taylor, Kohen, Mia, Cléa, Téo, Reeve, Sophia, Bentley, Danika, and Maria. Harry is survived by his sister, May Seguin, and was predeceased by his parents, Horatio and Dorothy Jones, and his brothers, Jack and Fred Jones. He will also be fondly remembered by his close friends and all those who knew him.
Harry was a devoted family man and a true jack of all trades; his skills and curiosity knew no bounds. He was a master electrician, pilot, flight instructor, Air Cadet ground school instructor, Second Lieutenant in the Reserves, and generously gave his time as a hockey and baseball coach, mentoring countless young athletes. Harry was hired by Adams Mine in 1965 and dedicated his career to the mine. In the early 1970s, he was at the forefront of the emerging field of instrumentation and process control, contributing to the industry during its formative years. His passion for education and mentorship extended beyond his career, as he donated equipment to the Haileybury School of Mines in support of the Instrumentation and Control Engineering Program, ensuring future generations could learn and thrive. In his retirement, Harry continued to do what he loved, working with the Cortellucci Group at Adams Mine as a caretaker of the property until his final days. He also cherished time spent at the family farm in Dane, where there was always work to be done and never a shortage of projects to keep him busy. A hardworking man with a generous heart, Harry showed his love not only through words but through a lifetime of dedication, service, and quiet strength. His greatest legacy of love, knowledge, and devotion will live on through his family and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. The Jones family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Kirkland Lake Paramedics and to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at Blanche River Health Hospital in Kirkland Lake and Health Sciences North in Sudbury, for their kindness, compassion, professionalism, and exceptional care during Harry’s final days.
A funeral viewing will be held at Temiskaming Funeral Cooperative on January 30, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A ceremony and service will follow on January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Breast Cancer Society in memory of Harry and his beloved wife, Verna, whose strength and love will continue to inspire all who knew them.

Sending my deepest condolences to everyone. I have many fond memories of Harry as my former father in law and grandfather to my children. He helped me out many times with his electrical and building skills and general jack of trades stuff. He could fix anything and if the part was too expensive hed make it himself! Such a hard worker and knowledgable man. Much time spent at the lake with boats, waterskis and family dinners and gatherings. Over the years, he'd sometimes show up randomly at the lake and we'd sit , have a rum and a coke (our drink in common lol) and just chit chat. He will be missed.

My mom and your mom, Debbie and I and now my daughter Barbie and Leanna have built close bonds. Your dad was a special human. Harry was like a brother to me. He was totally devoted to his family and friends. I am so happy that l had a wonderful conversation with him at Christmas. I will always remember him as an intelligent, caring and fun loving man who centered his life around his immediate family and extended family.He was loved by all the Hammond. Harry was a good man! Lots of knowledge about lots of things. Watched him work on his favorite Chrysler outboard at the lake until he finally got it running! Watched him systematically removing rocks from Don's place at Crystal with all kinds of gear and vehicles! He stopped in to visit us to have a visit regularly at Crystal and share a beer. Will miss him as much as our mutual friend Burky! I'm running out of friends quickly!

I was very sad to receive the news concerning Harry . I got to know him when our boys played hockey and enjoyed his humour, knowledge about many things and approach to life!
