Douglas F. Demers passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 11, 2026, at Extendicare, at the age of 65. Douglas was a lifelong resident of Larder Lake, Ontario. He had a deep love for the outdoors and found great joy in fishing and hunting, spending much of his time in nature doing what he loved most.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Mary Rose Demers; his father, Donald Demers; and his siblings, Julie James, Carol (Rene) Carre, and Claudette Demers. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews: Richard (Kelly), Andre (Jackie), Kassandra (Cory), Eric (Tessa), Jean-Claude (Emma), Austin (Kaitlyn), and Hunter, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews who will hold his memory close to their hearts.
Douglas will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind nature, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He valued time spent with family and friends, and his presence brought comfort and steadiness to those around him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Extendicare for the care and compassion shown to Douglas during his stay. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Legion in Larder Lake from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
