I was fortunate to be one of the Groms’ blueberry customers for the past few years. The berries were always top notch and my meetings with them always pleasant. My sincere condolences to his family. Rest in Peace!

I met Andrei back in the 90s when I was welcomed into the Grom family. Our paths only crossed occasionally over the last three decades, but the person I came to know was enough to earn my deep respect. Andrei Grom was a man of quiet strength and steady presence. Family was his compass. He would do anything to make sure they were cared for and supported. Andrei held a passion for knowledge. He loved to explore any book store in the hopes of finding new treasures. He passed on the message that learning is not just important, it’s a joy. He found peace in the outdoors. Fishing with his dad and family were fond memories for him. The quiet of the woods and water suited him perfectly, reflecting the calm, grounded presence he carried. Andrei had a deep appreciation for family history. He had an ability to hold and honour the stories that shaped his elders. Especially his parents. To sit with him was to feel welcomed. You were met with warmth. He was a story teller and had a gift for making people feel at ease. He was dedicated husband and father. He was a hard worker unafraid to roll up his sleeves. Andrei approached life with skill, patience and integrity. Andrei’s family and friends will miss his presence, his steadiness, his quiet humour, his ability to listen and his gentle wisdom. His legacy will remain in the hearts he shaped, the lives he strengthened and in the memories that will continue to remind us of him. May his spirit find rest and may those who loved him find comfort in the gift of having known him.

So sorry to hear about Andrei's passing. He was a wonderful person. His quiet demeanor spoke volumes. He spoke well of everyone. I worked with Andrei at Moose Mountain Mine north of Capreol, the Kerr Mine in Virginiatown and River Gold Mines in Wawa. He was a one of a kind man who, through his patience and pragmatic approach elevated all those around him. One fine Ukrainian he was too........
