It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of André Leo Moreau, who passed away on March 3, 2026, at the age of 64.
André was predeceased by his loving parents, Romeo Moreau and Lucille Moreau (Laferrière) of North Bay, his brother Guy Moreau of Kirkland Lake, and sister Diane Bailey of California, and his infant grandson Wyatt.
He leaves behind his daughters Sharla and Melissa Larson, who he was fondly proud of. André will also be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren Kaydence, Paris, Kahlen, Makennah, Dalton, and Olivia, as well as his great-grandson Oakley.
He is survived by his brothers Joel and Pierre, his sister Nicole, and his half-brothers Ken, Nick, and Mark, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will remember him dearly.
Born in Kirkland Lake, André spent much of his time surrounded by friends and family. He loved sports and enjoyed playing baseball, soccer, and hockey. As a teenagers he enjoyed his time with the Army Cadets traveling to various locations in Canada. One of his favorite pass times was spending time with friends during “jam nights,” where he played guitar and shared laughs and music.
André was a devoted fan of the Montreal Canadiens and rarely missed a game. His passion for hockey was well known to everyone who knew him.
André was a familiar and friendly face in the community, known by his nickname “OJ”. Many people knew him through baseball or from his time as a cab driver, where he became a favorite among locals in the community, who would often request him personally. His kindness, calm nature, and genuine care for others made him someone people trusted and enjoyed being around.
André was also a lifelong animal lover. He had a soft spot for any stray cat or dog that crossed his path and was always ready to offer them care and shelter. Even as a child, he would bring animals home, nurse them back to health, and eventually set them free.
Remembered for his compassion, gentle spirit, and kind heart, André touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
His memory will live on in the stories shared, the music played, and the love he gave so freely.
A huge thank you goes out to all who cared for Andre at the Blanche River Health Kirkland Lake hospital with a special Thank You to Brooke Genaille and Deseah Wight for their gentle, kind, supportive care through dads last moments.
Donations can be sent to the Advocates for Northern Animals.
A celebration of life will be scheduled in the spring.
