In memory of

Tammy MacDonald

1960 - 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tammy Margaret MacDonald, who left us on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at the Blanch River Health Centre in Kirkland Lake, surrounded by family and friends. Tammy courageously lost her battle with cancer, but not without putting up a determined and admirable fight.

Tammy was predeceased by her parents, Alice and Roy MacDonald; her sister Cheryl; her brother Archie; the love of her life, Danny Bush; and her cherished infant granddaughter, Mia.

She leaves behind her loving family: her sister Faye; her brother Danial (Kelly) and sister in law Marcella; and her beloved children Carrie (Cameron) and Jason. Tammy will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews: Amanda (Elysia), Tina (Lance), Ashley, Jarod (Savannah), Jacob, Shana (Doug); as well as her great-nieces and nephews Allyson, Amelia, Jackson, Everest, Nova and Soren.

Tammy was a proud and devoted grandmother to Jaiden, Taidje, Ayrial, Karleigh, Mary, and Rylan, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

She also leaves behind her close-knit group of friends—affectionately known as “the cool bitches”—whose bond, laughter, and loyalty meant the world to her.

At a young age Tammy started her career with Canadian Tire, where she dedicated an incredible 37 years of service. Throughout her career, she not only hired and mentored many individuals who became lifelong friends, but she also played an important role in helping many store owners achieve great success through her dedication, leadership, and strong work ethic

Tammy also volunteered for many years with the Hospital Auxiliary, where she especially enjoyed connecting with people and brightening their days through conversation and kindness.

Tammy loved spending time at the lake, relaxing at her camper, sitting around the fire, and sharing stories with family and friends. She took great pride in keeping the fire burning—whether fanning it for hours with a dustpan or, when all else failed, resorting to the leaf blower. Tammy also found joy in playing bingo and shopping and socializing with friends.

Tammy was truly a social butterfly who got along with everyone she met. She had a generous heart, a helping hand always ready, and a way of making people feel welcome and valued. Her kindness, strength, and sense of humour will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff who cared for Tammy throughout her journey. Their compassion, dedication, and support brought comfort to Tammy and her loved ones and will never be forgotten.

In honour of Tammy’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held this summer at the lake, a place she loved dearly and where many special memories were made.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tammy's memory can be made to the Oncology Department of the Blanche River Health.

I have known the family for many, many years. I grew to love Tammy's Mother, Alice, and saw Tammy become the rock that held everything together through each tradgedy bestowed on the family. Tammy, even though we didn't travel in the same circles always talked to me as a friend and smiled through her grief and pain. Her losses played on her immensely, but she was a strong, silent person who never complained or was bitter. She was a true example of what a Saint would be, with her kindness and caring for anyone whose lives she touched. Rest peacefully Sweet angel.

To Tammy’s Family I would echo all of the love for Tammy here. I shall add a story. I was at CJs last year. I saw Tammy and we had our usual happy exchange. When I went to pay for my lunch, I was told it was paid for. I was gobsmacked. Guess who? Tammy!! Thank you sweet Tammy. You made a difference in your life, thankfully at Canadian Tire and beyond. ❤️

Danny, and family and Chrissy and crew, We're so sorry for your loss of Tammy. She and I got to know each other well and I just loved her. I'd love it when I went into Canadian Tire and she'd go on the speaker from the service desk at the back and say "hey lady at the front, when are you bringing us a cinnamon cake again" lol. She was an amazing person who always brought a smile to my face. I'll miss you Tammy, but your crew will toast you with monkey bread when they get together in honour of you. xoxo
