In Loving Memory of Sharon Elizabeth Berube
March 19, 1954 – June 9, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved
wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Sharon Elizabeth Berube, on June 9,
2026, at Health Sciences North, with her family by her side.
Sharon was born on March 19, 1954, in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, to Winnifred (Winnie)
Angus (née Hodgins) and Orville Angus. Raised in the close-knit community of King
Kirkland, she was surrounded by a large extended family and a village that helped
shape the kind, generous, and spirited woman she would become. It was there that she
met and married the love of her life, Christopher Berube, beginning a partnership that
would span nearly five decades.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Orville and Winnifred Angus; her sister, Gwen
Angus; her brother, Glenn Angus, who was also her lifelong partner in crime; her sister-
in-law, Denise Montague; her brother-in-law, John Fillion; and brother-in-law Alfred
Tomaschek.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 47 years, Christopher Berube, and her
cherished children, Amy (Rodney) and Ian (Kasey). She was an adoring grandmother to
Rory and Saul, who brought immeasurable joy to her life and whom she loved beyond
words.
Sharon is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Garry (Gisele), Carol, Arlene, and
Garth, as well as her nieces and nephews: Tammy, Jason (Tien), Cindy (Curtis), Maria,
Ryan, and Cody. She will be dearly missed by her in-laws, Ann Fillion, Shirley (Peter)
Webb, Marjelaine (Reg) Seaton, and Garry Montague, along with many extended family
members and friends whose lives she touched.
Sharon held a special place in her heart for her dear friends Lois Smith, Leigh Fraser,
Ronnie Wilson and Neil Retty. Whether they were shopping, attending a concert,
sharing stories, or catching up on the latest gossip, there was never a shortage of
laughter and good times.
For much of her career, Sharon devoted herself to the family business, working side by
side with Chris at the Village Stop, which they proudly opened on July 1, 1988. She took
great pride in supporting her community through countless fundraising efforts for local
schools, children's sports teams, and community initiatives. While Sharon worked
tirelessly behind the scenes, Chris happily embraced his unofficial official role as the
“Mayor of Swastika,” handling the public relations and ensuring everyone felt welcome.
To her family, Sharon was the anchor, the steady hand, and the beating heart of
everything. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, heard, and deeply
loved. She faced life's challenges with strength, grace, and a smile that could light up
any room.
Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by family and friends. Whether gathered
around a poker table with the Angus crew in Sudbury, trying to outsmart Uncle Glenn in
a game of Hearts while reminding everyone to “watch him, don’t let him cheat!”, or
sharing stories over coffee, Sharon treasured every moment together. She loved baking
and preparing what her grandson Sully affectionately referred to as “making
ingredients.” She enjoyed shopping—especially when it involved spending Chris’s
money, a pastime that Rory was always happy to assist with. She found peace and
happiness outdoors, whether swimming with the kids, kayaking, trying her hand at
gardening, or walking to Culver with her beloved companions Buddy, Turbo, Meka, Miss
Dixie, and Gigi.
Sharon was a constant source of strength, wisdom, and encouragement. Whether
offering advice, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up when someone needed
her most, she could always be counted on. Her love was unwavering, her generosity
endless, and her presence a gift to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
To her family, she was nothing short of a superhero.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Kerri, Chantal, and the many medical
professionals who cared for Sharon with compassion and dignity.
In keeping with Sharon’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will
be held at the King Kirkland Recreation Centre on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 1:00pm-
4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sharon’s memory may be made to either the Canadian
Cancer Society or King-Label Fire Department.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the countless memories she leaves
behind and in the love she shared so freely. Sharon's legacy lives on in her family, her
friends, and all those whose lives were made brighter by knowing her. She will be
deeply missed and forever loved.

I wish to offer my sincerest condolences to Sharon's family and friends. I was shocked to hear of her passing. I live in Toronto, but went up to Kirkland Lake to visit my relatives (both Fisets and Berubes) a couple of months ago, and had the pleasure of visiting Sharon and Chris (Billy) in Swastika at that time. My most special condolences goes to Billy. He and I are only five weeks apart in our ages, and we lived in the same household until I was 16 years old. Billy, your loss is profound, and my thoughts are with you.

This is truly a shock. My sympathies go out to Sharon's family. We worked together at KDH and I was always amazed how Sharon always maintained such a calm demeanor no matter what happened in her life. Over the years I observed how she was "the mother" of her family (her children as well as other members). She was there to help out any family member, whatever they needed. We had many good conversations at work as well as chance meetings while shopping. I'll never forget how she fed us all those Lindor chocolates from her daughter Amy's workplace. Good times. Hope the family remains strong through this awful time. Rest assured, Sharon will be missed by many.

So shocked and devastated to hear that my dear cousin who grew up across the street from me has passed away. I’m so grateful that I had such a lovely visit with Carol, Arlene and Sharon in the family home last summer, sharing memories and talking about family history. Sharon loved with extravagance and showed this by caring physically, emotionally and spiritually for others. Her loss is deeply felt by many. My love and prayers go out to her family and friends. We were all blessed and enriched to know her, a rare treasure of beauty, joy, kindness, common sense, caring, energy and love. Rest peacefully dear cousin.

My sincere condolences to Sharon's family and friends. This is such shocking and sad news. Growing up in King Kirkland across the street from the Angus clan, as cousins we spent so much time together. Playing kick the can in our back yards, card games in our homes, sliding down the humungous snow banks, so many moments. My memories of Sharon and Glen, with all their antics and Sharon's hearty laugh if she got something over on us. I moved away, time passes but it is very clear that Sharon was the heart of her family, greatly contributed to her community and was loved and will be missed by all.
Hold tight to your fondest memories, may they brighten your darkest hours.
