In memory of

Richard "Rick" Ringrose

1948 - 2026

Richard “Rick” Ringrose—known to many as Ringer, Ricky, Dad, and Grampa—passed away peacefully on March 4 at the Kirkland Lake and District Hospital with his loving family by his side, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and stories that those who loved him will carry forever.

Rick was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Alberta Ringrose, and his loving son, Ryan.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Ringrose (née Richer), and his loving daughters, Jennifer Ringrose and Cindy (Darcey) Nylund. He was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Bradley Nylund (Michaela), Courtney (Brandon) McKenzie, Dylan Dagenais, Ashley Nylund (Justin Laferrière), David Dagenais, and Hillary Nylund (Andrew Stinson), and two great-grandchildren, Eddie Laferrière and Maverick McKenzie.

Rick was a dedicated lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, an organization that meant a great deal to him. Nettie Lake was at the heart of that dedication, where he took pride in helping out and, as he would often say, making sure to “keep things in line.”

Rick worked for the Town of Kirkland Lake for 31 years. Along the way he made many friends and built friendships that lasted a lifetime. From plowing the streets in the winter, to working on sidewalks in the summer, to the good times shared in the carpenter shop, the stories from those years are endless.

Rick enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved the outdoors—especially fishing and hunting—and watching his favorite team, the Montreal Canadiens.

He had a big heart, especially when it came to animals. Over the years he brought home more than a few creatures he helped to nurse back to health—including ducks, squirrels, and chipmunks. Even when his efforts didn’t always succeed, his willingness to try showed the kind and caring person he was.

Rick was also known for his sense of humor and his love of a good time. If there was a gathering or celebration in town, Rick enjoyed being there among friends, sharing stories and laughter. Around the campfire he was often the one leading the songs—usually the same ones on repeat—but they were the kind that stuck in everyone’s heads long after the fire went out.

Richard Ringrose will be remembered for his humor, his stories, and the many moments of laughter he brought into the lives of those around him.

He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Knights of Columbus 2748.

Cremation has taken place and details of a gravesite and celebration of life will take place at a later date.
