It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved mother, Rachel Guertin (Charbonneau) on February 23rd, 2022, at the Blanche River Health Hospital in Kirkland Lake. Predeceased by her husband Étienne Guertin of 55 years, her parents Omer Charbonneau et Dora Alarie, her sisters Félicie and Yvonne, her brothers Wilfrid, Palma, Aimé, Henri, and Roger. Left to mourn her passing are her children; Francois (Chantal), Laurent (Jacqueline), Donald (Colleen), and Paul (Micheline).
Mom leaves behind her brother Donat (Gisele) Charbonneau and many nieces and nephews. She had 8 grandchildren, whom she was especially proud of: Steve (Julie) and Bruce (Kelico), Christian and Adrien, Alexandrea and Katelyn, Mathieu (Renee), and Nicolas (Lindsay). She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Zacharie, Alexa, and Seth.
The greatest joy in her life was her family. She enjoyed an abundant social life with many nights spent singing Karaoke at The Encore Club with many friends and Sunday brunch with the girls. She lived life to the fullest and often said “I want to live forever!”. Mom’s passing will leave a huge void in our lives, but we take comfort in knowing that she is in heaven in the arms of all the loved ones that went before her.
The Guertin family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Blanche River Hospital who provided excellent care for Rachel. The family will welcome friends at French Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022, from 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, at 11:00 am at Paroisse Assomption. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Temiskaming Hospice Palliative Care at 145 Government Rd E, Kirkland Lake ON P2N 3P4 or La Paroisse Assomption at 50 Kirkpatrick Street, Kirkland Lake, ON P2N 2H3.

We are so sorry to hear this news. Mamere was such a vibrant lady and she will be missed each time we visit your home, Don & Colleen. Never will we ever see her little face peeking up the stairs between the banister rails from her Granny suite; to see who is visiting. I have such fond memories of growing up with all of you. We visiting you in Ramore and you visiting us in Holtyre. We always looked forward to spending time with all of you.
