It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laszlo Deutsch, who peacefully left us on January 28, 2026, at the age of 92. Born in 1933 in Zirc, Hungary, Laszlo emigrated to Canada in 1957, where he built a life full of love, hard work, and dedication.
In 1960, he married the love of his life, Erna Horner, in Kirkland Lake. Together, they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage before Erna passed away peacefully on October 14, 2019. Their partnership was one of deep love, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion.
Laszlo was a proud father to three children: Roland (Tina), Ilona (Rick), and Ursula (Melvin). His love extended beyond his children to his cherished grandchildren, whom they fondly called him "Papa." Doron, Jadon, Aaron, and Ethon of Florida, and Tyler of Kirkland Lake. They will always treasure the special bond they had with him and will miss him deeply.
An avid soccer fan, Laszlo’s love for the sport was a constant throughout his life. He also found joy in his workshop, where he spent countless hours crafting and creating, as well as in his beautiful rose garden, which he tended to with great care. These hobbies brought him much fulfillment and were a reflection of his patience, dedication, and love for the simple joys of life.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Extendicare for the compassionate care they provided during Laszlo's three years there. Our gratitude also goes to Dr. Kurki and the dedicated nursing staff whose kindness, gentle care, and support brought comfort to Laszlo in his final days.
Laszlo will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His warmth, generosity, and quiet strength will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A Celebration will be held at a later date.
Rest in peace, Laszlo. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Laz and Ann moved in next door when we lived on Rand Ave. E. in Kirkland Lake. Always well groomed, with a shy friendliness, loved the kids, enjoyed kicking the soccer ball around with the kids, smiled at Ann's jokes, easy going, and so much more. He will be missed and he certainly made an impression on my life. I call my grandchildren, "Coo Cuts" and Mrs. Kosinski like your Mom used to say. Ann gave me a cross that was her Mom's and it will remind me of them both. Much Love from Mississauga, ON.

Son of a gun. For those who knew Las, you heard him say that in his own special way. I can hear him now, can you.
Rand East where I grew up was known as a dead end st. With neighbours like Las and Ann Deutsch it was anything but a dead end. It was a life full of endless possibilities. Neighbours looked after all the kids, not just their own. They say it takes a village, well we had that. I spent many hours almost daily at the Deutsch house as it was like my second home.
After my Dad returned home from heart surgery around 1972 my husband decided he was going to raise up my parents house, built footings and lay blocks as my parents home was sitting on posts. Las was one of the neighbours who volunteered to help my husband. No one got paid. This was a labour of love for my parents.
In 1991 my Mom passed away and Las Deutsch was one of the pall bearers at her funeral. Once again Las was there for my family.
Just neighbours helping neighbours and they helped to make me into the person I am today.
To Roland, Ilona and Ursula I thank you for sharing your parents with me and for the many wonderful memories I am left with.
To Las I say 'son of a gun' 92 and please give Ann a hug for me. Miss you both.
