JEAN MARC VERMETTE was born on October 20, 1932 and died peacefully on Thursday, April
30, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his loving wife Judy Parkes of 31 years, his devoted children Marc
Vermette(Lori), Michelle Cowie(Bill), Chantel Reid(Kari), stepdaughter Lori-Ann Parkes(Mike),
his cherished grandchildren Jamie Leigh, Kristen, Lindsay, Kaylyn, Joshua, Mackenzie, Rylee,
Connor, Brady, Leah, precious great grandchildren Eoan, Eavan, Silas, Rex, Ellisyn, Andie, River,
Finn, Scarlet, Mylah, Sunny and great-great grandchild Oliver.
He is also survived by his sisters Claire Rogers(Will), Lorraine Wells(late Larry), Diane
Mullins(Don), brother-in-law‘s Ken Parkes(Sharyn), Brian Parkes, sister-in-laws Ruth (late William),
Sue Perrier(Ray), Vickie Demers(Clem) and many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his first wife Frances Deluney, his loving parents Onesime Vermette
and Cecile Trepanier and his sisters Therese Vermette and Yolande(late John) Berube.
John joined the Navy HMCS Quebec at 19 years of age. He also worked as a Salesman for Green
Giant/Pillsbury where he later retired. In his retirement years, he loved teaching woodworking
at the Encore Club.
He was a devout Catholic family man and a good friend to all. He was our rock and will surely be
missed. The cottage on Lake Sesekinika was a piece of heaven on earth. He looked forward to
every spring so he could go fishing and spend time with his family and friends. John was the
ultimate Chef preparing for the Annual Pickeral Fish Fry in which we all looked forward to each
year. He also looked forward to the Annual fishing weekend every spring with the gang from
Ottawa.
He will be remembered by his friends Margaret (late Edward) McPhedran and family, Roger and
Helen Dufresne, Richard Kemshall, Jim and Teresa Quinn, Larry and Laurie Frank and Danny
Disano.
We will miss his smiling face, infectious laughter and generous kind spirit.
Visitation will be held on Friday May 8, 2026 at Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative (111 Burnside
Dr, Kirkland Lake) from 7 to 9 pm.
In keeping with John’s faith, the Right of Christian burial also known as the funeral mass will be
celebrated on Saturday May 9, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Holy Name of Jesus Parish (9 Kirkland
St. W, Kirkland Lake). A luncheon will be served in the Parish Hall following the funeral mass.
John will be intered at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery at a later date.
Donations can be made to the Holy Name of Jesus Parish in Kirkland Lake or a charity of your
choice.
