It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Christine McGregor (née Gelinas), who passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Predeceased by her grandparents, Emile and Laurette Gelinas, and Stephen and Katherine Stack; her parents, Ivan and Lenora Gelinas; and her brother, Phil. Janet will be dearly missed by her brothers, Tim (Theresa) and Raymond (Lucinda), and her sister, Louise (Bob).
She leaves behind her beloved children, Mark (Marissa), Kyle (Keisha), Patrick (Tiffany), and Emily (Nicholas). Her greatest joy was her family. She cherished the love and memories shared with her children and her grandchildren, Leilon, Kenley, Ethan, and Izaak, who brought her so much happiness and pride.
She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, friends, neighbours, and all those whose lives she touched.
Janet was a woman with a generous heart who spent much of her life caring for others. She was known for her kindness, compassion, and the way she always gave more than she received. Fiercely independent and strong-willed, Janet faced life with determination and a spirit that was uniquely her own.
She found joy in the simple and creative things in life. She loved music and dancing, and had a passion for knitting, crafting, pottery, and creating beautiful pieces through twig work. Her creativity was a reflection of the love and care she put into everything she did.
Janet dedicated many years to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother. Later in life, she followed her passion for helping others and returned to school, graduating as an Early Childhood Educator. Her caring nature continued to shine throughout her life.
Janet’s love, strength, creativity, and the memories she created will continue to live on through the people who loved her.
Rest peacefully, Janet. You will be forever loved and never forgotten.
Janet’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Museum of Northern History in Kirkland Lake from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, July 19th, 2026.

Sincere condolences to all Janet’s family. I got the privilege to know Janet in her early teens. She was our steady babysitter…and I must say she was mighty good at it…Life threw her a lot of curves but every time I saw her she would smile through them. Rest easy my friend.
