Peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital on the morning of Monday November 21st, 2022, in the presence and hearts of her loving family in her 93rd year. Grace is now reunited with her parents, Jack and Maggie Gibson.
Grace is survived by her husband of 64 years, Rod Wert, son, David Wert (Denise) of Kenogami, daughter, Cathy (Scott) Plewes of Orleans and by her four grandchildren, Shenoah, Jessica, Jaedyn and Sarah.
Grace lived a full life of service to her community. During the second World War, as a young girl, she would often accompany RCAF service members on rainy days during their walk from her parent’s boarding house to their Dow’s Lake Station as a work around to the regulation that service members were prohibited from carrying an umbrella unless accompanied by a female.
Grace was active in the United Church volunteering as an elder Sunday School Teacher and the UCW at St. Paul’s United Church in New Liskeard.
At Grace’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, there will be a private burial in the Spring of 2023.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Covenant House Toronto, 20 Gerrard Street East, Toronto, Ontario M5B 2P3 or Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, 401 Smyth Road, Ottawa, Ontario K1H 8L1.
A special thank you to Dr. Lacasse, and the Palliative Staff at the Temiskaming Hospital for their compassion, thoughtfulness and care of Grace and her family during her final hours.

Sorry to hear of Grace’s passing she was a special lady who worked very hard with Nora L at the shop in the Church basement. Also remember her pies when there was a supper at the Church. She sure fought the good fight in the past few years. Rest in we’ll deserved peace.
Sincerely
