With a heavy heart and treasured memories, we announce the death of our husband, father and Poppa, Emerick (Emo) Rozich. Emo was born in Kirkland Lake on February 21st, 1944. He was proud of his Croatian heritage and passed on his traditions to his children.
Emo is predeceased by his entire, immediate family, his parents, Ana and Janko Rozic, his brothers John ( Helen), Joseph ( Mary) and his sister Vera, He is also predeceased by his in-laws Walter and Anna Luczkiw and Terry.
Emo is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary, his darling daughters Rozanna and Cathy and his precious grandsons Riley (Annabella) and Connor. He is also survived by his siblings’ children and grandchildren and his sister-in-law Sonia and her family.
Emo was an active member of Holy Name Parish and the Knights of Columbus. For some years, he was a trainer for the Kirkland Lake Columbians. There was a period when the Knights participated in regional tournaments playing hockey, curling and baseball. Oh, the memories that were created there!
Emo’s education included elementary grades in King George and then St. Jerome schools. KLCVI was a challenge and he made it as far as Grade 11, the grade he repeated 3 times and quit to work at Falconbridge Mine. He worked there for 5 years but Kirkland Lake was calling him back so he followed his instincts and went to work at Adam’s Mine. Unsure of his future, he decided to try to get his high school diploma since education is valuable in any line of work. He did it! He got his diploma and his graduation picture shows a proud man wearing his cap and holding his reward. Good for you, Emo! You earned it!
When Adam’s Mine closed, Emo started working for Co-Op Taxi. This was a job that suited him well. His friendly nature and his gift of gab endeared him to some of his passengers. He continued working there until his health deteriorated,
In his spare time, Emo enjoyed fishing, hunting, drawing, playing cards, reading, word searches and finding that penny in Our Canada magazines. Playing the guitar became a life-long passion after he bought his first guitar at 12 years old and discovered a talent he didn’t know he had.
Emo had a heart of gold. To know him was to love him.
We want to thank the Staff at the hospital and Extendicare for the loving care they provided for him. Special thanks to Peter and Lise for all that they have done.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at the Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative (111 Burnside Drive Kirkland Lake) from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
In keeping with Emo’s faith the Rite of Christian Burial also known as the Funeral Mass will celebrated on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Parish.
Emo will be inurned at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery at a later date.
If you wish, donations can be made to Extendicare Activities, Holy Name Parish or a charity of your choice.

I was sad to hear of Emo’s passing. I worked with Emo at Co-Op taxi for 6 years, you always knew the day would be interesting when you were working with Emo. I remember I was driving taxi one morning and Emo and I were at the office. Emo was despatched to a fair, shortly after I got one. I went out side to find that Emo had taken my taxi instead of his…this is just one of many stories that I will always laugh about and cherish fondly whenever I think of Emo.
