Else Lena Stransky, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, peacefully departed this world on May 7, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love she so generously shared throughout her life. Born in the picturesque country of Switzerland, Else was the beloved only daughter of Johann and Elsa (Schmidt) Egloff. Else spent most of her life in the Kirkland Lake Ontario area where she had many friends; she spent her remaining years residing in Thunder Bay Ontario.
In a life that spanned several decades, Else embraced the roles of seamstress, mother, and homemaker with grace and dedication. Her journey began in Switzerland, where she married her soulmate, Rainer Stransky, embarking on a partnership that would enrich both their lives until Rainer's passing. Together, they built a family and a legacy of love that would endure long after they left the earthly realm. Else's heart was as vast as the gardens she so lovingly tended. As an avid gardener, she found joy and tranquility in nurturing life from the soil, a testament to her nurturing spirit, and her profound appreciation for the beauty of nature.
Her artistic talents were equally expressive, capturing the vibrancy and essence of life through her creative endeavors such as painting and knitting. In her earlier years she enjoyed curling with Rainer and their friends.
Else’s greatest love was her family. She is survived by her sons Gunther (Patricia), Richard (Loretta), Erich (Angele), Dennis (Beverly), Ronald, and her cherished daughter Marieanne (Trevor). Her legacy is carried forward by her eleven grandchildren Carrie, Nicholas, Sarah, Carlie, Jeffrey, Stephanie, William, Caitlan, Jessika, Leah, and Curtis, each of whom she adored and who were blessed to bask in the warmth of her love and wisdom. Else cherished her nine great grandchildren, which finished her and Rainer’s legacy.
Else was predeceased by her loving husband, Rainer, her parents and her grandson Shayne, and her dear friend Charlie Wilke. Their memories remained close to her heart, and she spoke of them often with fondness and reverence. A woman of numerous friendships, Else was known for her kindness, her generous spirit, and her unwavering dedication to those she loved. Her laughter and warmth were infectious, and her home was always open, a haven for friends and family alike. Her life was a testament to the power of love and friendship, and she leaves behind a legacy of compassion and joy.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Else's memory to The Salvation Army, an organization whose work she deeply admired and supported. Else Stransky’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, creativity, and an unyielding devotion to her family and friends. As she joins her loved ones in the embrace of eternity, her spirit continues to bloom in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. Her memory will forever be a source of inspiration and comfort for those she leaves behind.
Special shout out to the staff and Doctors at Hogarth Riverview Manor that provided our mother with extraordinary care and compassion throughout her stay. You are truly very special people, many thanks from our family.
As per Else’s wish, there will be no service; but she will be intered at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery privately.
