In memory of

Douglas Napier

1949 - 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Andrew Napier on June
4, 2026, at the age of 76.

Doug was a devoted father, proud grandfather, great-grandfather and loyal friend whose
life was defined by hard work, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
He dedicated his life to ensuring that those he loved were cared for, supported, and
given every opportunity to succeed.

Predeceased by his loving parents, Elizabeth Napier (née Greening) and John Aubrey
Napier, as well as many aunts, uncles and cherished friends. We find solace in knowing
he is once again in the company of all those he had missed so dearly.

He leaves behind his beloved children, Kim (Steve), Tracy (Kevin), Jamie (Sonja),
Sarah (Dillon) and Rachel (Leslie), who will forever cherish the lessons he taught
through his many, many stories and long conversations. He also leaves behind his
cherished grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Mathew, Andrew, Kaia, Grayson, Isla,
Cameron, and great-grandchild, Jaxon, all of whom he could not be more proud.
He is also survived by his siblings and in-laws, Gloria and Ed, Jack and Lou, Glenda
and Martin, as well as countless nieces and nephews.

He was a constant source of strength, wisdom and perseverance for his family, whether
offering advice, lending a helping hand, or simply being present when needed most, he
could always be counted on.

Born in Englehart, Ontario, Doug and the Napier family relocated to Kirkland Lake in the
early 1950’s where Doug spent his youth helping his Grandparents on their small farm
in Otto Township or seemingly causing a ruckus with his friends on the streets of
Kirkland Lake. He had endless stories of his escapades, which he lovingly enjoyed
retelling to anyone who had the time to listen.

As a young man, he quickly learned the value of a hard day’s work, and for him, few
things brought him greater contentment than the quiet reward of a job well done. From
pumping gas to building his first log house, his work was far more than a means of
making a living—it was a reflection of his character, and while he may not have
mastered the art of taking it easy, he mastered things far more important: providing for
his family, mentoring and lending a hand to those in need, and the art of building
something that stood the test of time.

Throughout his life, Doug found himself bouncing around Ontario, taking on new
challenges across the province, eventually making his way back to the North to spend
his last years in retirement, swapping his work boots for a pair of nice, cozy slippers,
finally giving himself the rest he so deserved and earned.

His family knows that everything he did was motivated by his desire to provide them with a better life.

In keeping with Doug’s wishes, no funeral or formal service will be held.

Instead, we invite you to privately celebrate his memory in the way that speaks true to you.

Though our hearts are broken by his loss, we find comfort in knowing that his stories
and memories will continue on in all of those who were privileged enough to hear them.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

“Tho’ the distance may divide us,
And your face I cannot see,
When of others you are thinking,
Will you sometimes think of me”

- A poem found written from Elizabeth Napier to her son Dougie

Special thanks to all the medical professionals who walked alongside him in his final
chapter. Their skill eased his discomfort, their kindness eased our worries, and their

compassion helped transform a difficult goodbye into one filled with comfort, respect,
and peace.
