It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Joan on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Teck Pioneer Residence in Kirkland Lake, ON. Predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1973, Joan was the loving mother of David, Joyce Barker (late Bill), Julia Doyon (late Johnny), and Joanne Calaiezzi (Tony). Dear grandmother of Sherry, Kimberly, Shannon, Lisa, Tracy, and the late Darryl and Carrie Ann and great grandmother to McKennah, Rhett, and Rylan.
Joan was born on February 20, 1924, in England. During World War II she worked in an ammunition factory prior to marrying Canadian soldier Joseph Krachuk. As a war bride in 1946, Joan sailed aboard the Ile de France to Canada to reunite with her husband and start a family in Northern Ontario. In her later years, Joan loved her garden and feeding the hummingbirds.
In keeping with Joan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
