David was taken to God while at Blanche River Health in Kirkland Lake on Monday
March 23 , 2026. David Ralph Porter, in his 79th year, was the beloved husband of
Roberta Porter and has joined her in heaven. He was the loving father of Sarah
Duncan and her husband Peter of Lake Echo, NS., Lisa Ingram and her husband John
of Kirkland Lake, and Cristina Zanella and her husband Tom of Port Dover, and the
loving uncle of Jennifer deWaard. He was the loved brother of Gordon Porter and late
wife Gerrie, Marlene Gazzola and late husband Enzo, and Barbara Craven and late
husband Joe, and the dear brother-in-law of Valerie Hogg and late Bobby Veidenheimer.
He was loved by his parents Frank and Thelma Porter, now deceased. He will be
missed by all friends and family, especially long time friend Carol and her children
Leanne and David and their spouses and children, nieces and nephews Kelly, Steven,
Linda, Paul, Debbie, Ted, and Kim, and grand nieces Farah and Priscilla, cousins
Shirley, Sharon, Laura and Michael, and close family and grandchildren Kevin,
Samantha, Bill, Sebastian, and Ridley. His puppies, Norri and Piper will also miss him.
David was an accountant and loved his work and was devoted to his clients. He formed
many long-time friendships through his work, and we thank all those who reached out
and supported him through his illness. He was creative and had many hobbies,
including carpentry, and for years enjoyed making beautiful furniture and doing
renovations on his house. The first dining table he ever made is still being enjoyed by
our family. He spent time in the summer working in the yard and on his boat, and we
have wonderful memories of time spent with him swimming at the lake, fishing, sharing
meals together, and just visiting and relaxing together. He was a devoted father and
loved being with family and celebrating special occasions and we will so miss his calm,
caring and giving personality and sense of humour.
David had a very strong faith in God and always knew God would look after him. He
was active in his church and loved singing in the choir. Father Justin and the church
community were a great support and comfort to him. He spoke of his friends at church
often.
We thank all friends in his neighbourhood for being so caring and kind. He felt grateful
for living in such a friendly community and looked forward everyday to his walks with his
puppies in the neighbourhood and visiting with all his neighbours.
Thank you so very much to all those who provided such wonderful care for him at
Blanche River Health in Kirkland Lake.
Dad, we love you so much and will miss you every day but are at peace knowing you
are now with God.
David’s family will be receiving guests at the Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
In accordance with David’s faith, the Mass of Christian Burial, sometimes called the Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 30th, 2026 at Holy Name of Jesus Parish at 11:00am
with an interment to follow in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery in the spring.
Donations in his memory may be made to Blanche River Health or the Canadian Cancer Society and would be greatly appreciated by his family.
Visitation: Sunday, March 29, 2026 2:00pm to 4:30 pm
Funeral: Monday, March 30, 2026 at 11:00am
