It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Tanczyn on November 30, 2025. Robert was predeceased by his wife Jacqueline. Rob’s passion was entertaining, he began his radio DJ career at the age of 17 in Saskatchewan, eventually moving to Kirkland Lake and working alongside Robin Connelly and Barry Furguson at CJKL FM until his retirement. Rob will be missed by all who knew him, especially his care givers Linda and Claude Grossinger. Special thanks to the staff at Extendicare for their compassionate care in his final years.

I sure miss Rob, both on the radio and getting a hug and chatting with him around town. He was a terrific guy. Always had a kind word and a smile for everyone. He was a good friend and always called me his best fan. Yes Rob, I was. May he Rest in Peace.

This is truly sad news. I often wondered if Rob was still in the area as I hadn't seen him around town in many years. We spoke often and he so enjoyed talking about his parents who he loved very much and his life in Montreal. He had a great sense of humor and we always had some laughs when we chatted. He was a man truly suited for radio work. His voice was perfect for the job. I always looked forward to his Sunday radio shows. Now Rob has gone to join his wife and they shall be together for Eternity as they were in life. Rest in peace Rob.

I remember Rob from his radio days in Timmins and was part of a group here who were his circle of friends until his move to Kirkland Lake.
I crossed paths with Rob years ago in a grocery store here in Timmins.
He recognized me immediately and said to me, “ you don’t remember me, do you ? “. As soon as he had talked long enough, it was the voice that brought the recognition.
He sure did have a voice for radio !
I would often hear him on CJKL as I travelled to Southern Ontario
and knew he so loved the North and the people of the area.
I am thankful to know that he had wonderful friends and care in his final years. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
