Obituary for Anne Middleton
It is with great sadness and profound love that we announce
the peaceful passing, at the age of ninety, of our mother,
Margaret Elizabeth Anne Montgomery Robb (Currie) Middleton
at the Teck Pioneer Residence in Kirkland Lake.

Sunset: May 30, 2026
Anne was born in Chaput Hughes, Ontario, the second of three
daughters to John and Viola (Pascoe) Currie. Her dear sisters,
Catherine (Currie) Dinnen and Joan (Currie) Grant, both
predeceased, were Anne’s cherished siblings throughout their
lives together.
Anne has now been reunited with all of her beloved family
members whom she missed everyday, especially her loving and
devoted husband, Vernon (Midge), who predeceased her,
nineteen short months ago, after sixty-nine years of marriage.
Anne is survived by her son, Jamie Middleton (Shanea Smith,
son Jarid, daughter Sye), her granddaughter Alyssa Middleton,
her great-grandson Butch Wabie, and her daughter, Elizabeth
Middleton (John Boisvert). Also left to mourn are many
beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends. Each one
of them experienced the joy, light and love that Anne was
known for throughout her life.
Many residents of Kirkland Lake knew our Mom from the thirty
years she owned and operated the Teck Hotel alongside our
father. The success of this family business was due in large part
to Mom’s selfless dedication, her work ethic, and her
unequaled, delicious pies; especially the Coconut Cream.
Whether it was cooking breakfast for hungry customers in the
coffee shop, or celebrating Kirkland Lake’s Winter Carnival with
barbequed beef on a bun and her homemade baked beans,
Mom was always so proud of the Teck, and of the fact that the
legacy created by her, continued to be carried on by her family.
Throughout her life, Mom was a model of sacrifice and
strength. She was always devoted to dear family members
near and far. She will be remembered most for her optimism,
kindness and caring nature.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all of
the staff of the Teck Pioneer Residence who took excellent,
compassionate care of our treasured mother for the past six
years. She loved each and every one of you.
Cremation has taken place, and as per her wishes, there will be
no funeral service. A small family gathering will take place on
Saturday, August 8 th , 2026 to honour Mom, and to scatter her
and Dad’s ashes at their memorial on the Middleton Family
Property at Round Lake.
Donations in Anne’s memory can be made to the Teck Pioneer
Residence, where she enjoyed so many special activities in her
final years.
Dear Mom, you have given us a lifetime of wonderful
memories. Now that the day has come that we can no longer
be together, we will keep you our hearts, and you will stay
there forever.
