In memory of

Albert Souriol

1970 - 2026

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Albert Gary Souriol, affectionately known to many as “Stubby,” on February 3, 2026, with his Sweetheart Kelly holding his hand.

Albert was born on March 27, 1970 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario to the late Albert Sauriol Sr. and Barbara Sauriol. He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother Gerald, who passed away in 1983.

Albert was a hardworking man who spent his life providing for and protecting those he loved. Over the years, he worked in many trades including mining, logging, and most recently as a loader operator. No matter the job, Albert gave everything he had.

When he wasn’t working, Albert poured his heart into caring for others—especially through food. He loved cooking and feeding his family and friends, and he and Kelly could often be found at events serving delicious meals to large crowds. Stubby and his food were well known in the community, where he shared his cooking with a welcoming smile and a generous spirit.

Albert was also a devoted animal lover. He shared his home and heart with his three dogs, Tundra, Chloe, and Koda, and his three cats, Moose, Bear, and Bella, who brought him immense joy and comfort.

Albert is lovingly remembered by his spouse Kelly Desjardins; his sisters Sandra Gelinas and Debra Nash (Richard); and his children Kayla Souriol (James), A.J. Souriol (Ali), and Andrew Souriol (Tanika). He was a devoted and loving father to his children and stepchildren, whom he loved as his own: Andrew Desjardins, Reuben Desjardins, and Grace Fortier Souriol.

He will be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

As per Albert’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Kirkland Lake Legion on Sunday Feb 15, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. All who knew and cared for Albert are welcome to attend, celebrate his life, and share memories.

Albert’s love, generosity, and presence will be forever missed and never forgotten.

My deepest condolences. Very sad news. Albert was a great man. Note to Albert ( Hey Bud, i hurd that you're gone with the angels. It was a shocking news. I told you many many times, but i will tell you again, you were the best supervisor i ever had in 11 yrs of trucking. You gave me the nickname of Firecracker 🧨 🤣 you saw i have a short fuse, specially when the other guys would take my truck. Lol. That's the best nickname ever 😁 You help me with so many things and so many times. I remember i would call you when you where having a bad day an tell you a joke and make you laugh, you would always tell me " ur nuts, get to work 😂" I would answer "i am working, i drive for a living 😂 " then i would hang up while we we're laughing. I remember so many things. The laughs we had. The jokes we said. The tears i cried when i called you when huge accidents happened in front of my eyes, and sometimes almost part of it. You would always be there just a phone call away. Thank you, for always listening to me, with no judgements and lending a hand when I needed extra muscles on retorquing tires. Lol Gone way to soon and will never be forgotten. RIP my friend ✌🏻

It's insane, how fast the time flies, still remember when we would visit you at your house in timmins, how you and dad would discuss the differences between smart TV's and the olden days one haha and how it always ended with the olden ones winning the debate. I was so happy being able to talk to you and catch up on everything at my wedding, for you to be there for that special moment in my life was a dream come true. When i got the news after nightshift from my husband picking me up, i felt numb, lost, a state of shock and denial, I didn't want to believe it, even told my husband "this is a sick joke right...it's not funny" but his expression and eyes told me all i needed to know, my uncle was gone...taken by god to be another angel watching over the family, I wanted to wake up from this nightmare, I wanted to go to sleep after nightshift, wake up, and have someone, anyone, say it was all a bad dream that you were still here with us...but sadly it was not the case...and it broke me even more. You'll be missed uncle Stuby, you were really well loved in this life and I wish we had more time together, have our coffee moments at your work after a nightshift, to be held in your arms one more time. I love you Uncle, and I hope where you are now is full of peace and love, full of family moments with papa and nanny and all your friends and family that left this world too early, as that is what you deserve. You are another angel, another star in the sky, and everynight when I look up, I'll be looking up at you uncle for this is not goodbye...it is simply an "until we meet again" ❤️😭

Kelly is my son, Dylan's, special needs worker and so of course Dylan would meet Albert and they got to be friends. Albert took the time to be kind and friendly. I appreciated so much that Albert cared about Dylan. We have lost a kind and generous man.
