MERHAR, Christopher

1960 - 2024

"We are each of us Angels with only one wing... we can only fly by embracing one another"

It is with great sorrow that we celebrate the Journey's End and the Arrival Home of Christopher Mark Merhar on August 7th, 2024.

After a courageous and brave battle, Chris returned home. Chris would have been greeted at the gates by his Mother and Father Carol and Joseph Merhar.

Remaining here to celebrate Chris's life are his Sister, Leslie Merhar with Husband Tony Ward, his Niece, Kristin Newman and her Husband Kyle, his Nephew Corey Gaston and his Wife Michelle, as well as Scott Merhar.

Forever remembered by his Great Nephew Kelly, and Great Nieces Samantha, Kaydence and Cassandra, all of whom he adored beyond measure. Also remembered fondly by his Aunt, Helen Sutton. He will be missed dearly by family and friends near and far.

Special mention to significant friends who were with Chris unwaveringly through all the adversity he faced over the past year, Bruce McDonald and his Wife Joanne. Words can not express our gratitude for your support of Chris. He loved you both dearly.

Chris's Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday August 11th, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative, 111 Burnside Dr. Kirkland Lake ON, P2N 3L1 with reception and light lunch to follow.

While reminiscing with family and friends lately, attributes of both Kindness and Generosity were common themes.

Chris will be missed by so many and we will continue to hold him in our hearts, not just today... but always.

I was shocked to see a picture of Chris in the obituary. I've known Chris for a while and got to know him a little more after he worked with his mother at the chip stand M&M and also when he used to deliver pizzas to my home from Dino's. He was a hard guy to like at the beginning but when I got to know him a little more he always used to remember my name and said hi when he saw me. My condolences to all his family and friends I know Chris had an effect on a lot of people. Rest in peace Chris!!!

Leslie and Family

Please accept my sincere condolences on Chris’ passing. I had the chance to know Chris over the years, and did reach out to him a few years ago when I happened to be passing by the cottage at Kenogami Lake. I remember he and his Mom loved that place.
When we leave this world, our soul continues on living and in the hearts of those loved and left behind.
Chris will no doubt be with his Mom and Dad once again.
He will now know where all the great fishing holes are.
Rest In Peace Chris.

Merhar Family and Friends

In memory of a friend who has left us too soon, I find myself reflecting on the many adventures we shared. From the early old days spent hunting , to the peaceful hours casting lines and waiting for a bite, and the countless moments spent paddling together on lakes; each memory is a sign of a life well lived.

You were different by nature, a feisty spirit with a heart of gold. A hot temper at times but always willing to have a good time with everyone you knew. You liked to laugh and always had a flare with the colourful language. Laughing, giving, generous to others, always game for anything we would come up with.

Though you may no longer be by our side, your spirit remains in every card game, sport or activity we played. I will laugh with joy at some of our memories. Some memories may cause us sadness. As the pain fades we will enjoy your memories and be happy we spent time with you Chris.

Rest easy, my friend. You’ll forever be in our hearts and our memories, and your legacy will live on in the adventures we continue to seek.
