Bruneau, Colette

BRUNEAU, Colette

1948 - 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Colette Bruneau (née Cheff) in her home in Kirkland Lake on November 20th, 2024.

Born in Cochrane Ontario to Léandre and Gabrielle Cheff, Colette grew up with a strong sense of family with her many siblings. She then carried these values on with her soulmate Paul. Colette was a stay at home mother to Nick, Chantal and Nancy until later taking on full time responsibility of the office and customer service at the family business until retirement.

Since we can remember, Colette had a love of hummingbirds. She looked forward to her summers at the lake every year, where she could feed and admire them while sitting out enjoying the sun and her flowers.

Colette will be remembered for being a woman you could always turn to for a listening ear, gentle open arms, love and acceptance, no matter the situation. She loved to converse, laugh and play games with her siblings, children and grandchildren whom adored her.

Colette is now reunited with her parents Léandre and Gabrielle Cheff, her brother Sylvio, her loving husband Paul as well as the numerous family members she inherited through their marriage. In her final days, she looked forward to these reunions the most.

Colette is survived by her children Nick (Carol) Bruneau, Chantal Bruneau and Nancy Bruneau as well as her Grand children Sophie Bruneau, Devin (Jena) Bruneau, Logan (Kayla) Dubé, Matthew (Erica) Bruneau, Kalvin Bruneau and McKeyah Bruneau. Great grand children Tristan and Islai.

She is also survived by her siblings, Aurèle (Lina) Cheff, Lise (Regean) Castonguay, Yvon (Susan) Cheff, Laurent (Florence) Cheff, Laura (Rudy) Giangualano, Noël (Rosa) Cheff, Liette Cheff, Berthe (Robert) Viau, Carole Decevito, Germain (Lynne) Cheff as well as her honorary “Twisted” sister Pauline Bruneau, siblings in law and many loved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Colette’s life will be held on December 14th, 2024 from 2pm to 4pm at the Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative (111 Burnside Dr, Kirkland Lake). All are welcome.

She Is Not Gone
Ease your grief, she is not gone. For in your heart, she lingers on. Her smile, her laugh, her special way, will comfort you, from day to day.

You'll feel her presence in the breeze, that dances gengly, through the trees. And it's her face that you shall see, when you're in need of company.

At any time, you can recall, the love you shared...You saved it all. And in time, more than anything, you'll find piece in remembering ️

Nancy, Kalvin, McKeyah and family

My deepest, and most sincere condolences to you all for your loss. She was a special woman, gave the warmest hugs, and gave great advice. I never once felt unwelcome in her home, and was literally greeted with open arms when I walked through the door. And I will never not laugh when the memories of you harassing your poor little Mom while she was doing the dishes, and how hard we would all laugh, pop into my head. I have always cherished the memories I was so blessed to have made with you, and your parents, while growing up. They have both always had a special place in my heart. I hope knowing your parents (grandparents) are together again brings you some comfort, and helps ease your pain from your loss.
