I worked with Vic while he was a teacher at King George School and always thought he was a true and gentle man. He had a way with students; they knew he meant business and he seemed to garner their respect by his quiet yet commanding presence. My sincere condolences to the family.

I was a student of mr.nielson in King George and i can recall one incident where he was teaching us to make a light switch circuit, and me being the electrician of the group managed to blow up the circuit and melted the screwdriver, i remember he was pretty concerned about the screwdriver haha and made sure i knew how to do that circuit.. Now im a mining engineer and remember thoose little things when people took the time to teach me something i didnt know or had trouble with, and Mr.nielson was that type of person to take the time to teach people if they were willing to learn

Vic’s classroom “neighboured” mine for many years at King George Public School. We shared countless hallway chats and enjoyed many laughs and adventures on the Grade 8 trips to Toronto. He was a great neighbour at school and I have fond memories of these times. My deepest sympathy to the family, may you find comfort in your own memories of Vic. Janie M

Dear Linda, Joanne, & Sandra (and extended families) My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I’ll be in touch a little later. So many fun memories especially of the Cool Brothers and their escapades. I know Roy will have the gazebo ready for a proper welcome for Vic. Hope it’s green side up! Love & Hugs, Sylvia

My sincere condolences to all. I regret that I am out of town this week. Vic and I first met in September 1961 at Swastika Public School. Throughout the ensuing years our paths continued to cross when each of us worked at Matachewan and King George Public Schools. Vic was a dedicated teacher who was respected not only by his students but also by his colleagues. He always took the time to display his students’ achievements but minimized his part in having them excel. It was a pleasure to work with him and to be his friend. He will be missed.

Our sincere condolences to the entire family. Having moved around quite a bit through the years, we lost touch with the Neilson family but became reacquainted with Vic and, by extension, Jane, when we attended St. Peter’s. Vic was always so welcoming and friendly! He will be missed.
