In loving memory of Mr. Philip Vernon “Vern†Pratt who went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, November 9th, 2017 at the Englehart & District Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Meaford on April 23, 1934 to Reynolds and Emma Pratt, the 4th of 5 children, Vernon travelled to Saskatchewan as a young man to work on the railroad. Following a 2 year stint on the railroad, he returned to northern Ontario and began his career with Canada Post. Vernon remained with Canada Post in various capacities until his retirement in 1990. Vernon was predeceased by his faithful wife Hazel on September 27, 2017. He was also predeceased by his parents and 2 siblings: Ivan(Rauni) and Howard(Bertha)Pratt. Vernon was the proud and supportive father of Kevin(Frances), Janice(Larry Montean), Glenn(Cheryl), Ivan(Maria), Helen(James Brown) and Naomi(Joel Joyce). He was the fun loving grandfather of 15 grandchildren: Jason and Michael(Janet) Pratt; Philip(Josie) and Scott(Jennifer) Montean and Karen(Andrew Giraldi); Jonathan(Courtenay) and Darren (Elizabeth) Pratt; Nathan, Joshua(Althea) and Jordan(Meaghan)Pratt; Karyssa Brown; Kelsey, Brenna, Aydan and Emily Joyce. Vernon will no longer be handing out toonies to his 13 great grandchildren: Rodney and Merritt Pratt; Maia, Tori, Carson, Carter, Zoey and Logan Montean; Gabriel and Micah Giraldi; Surraya, Athena and Troy Pratt He is survived by his older brother Harvey(Iris) Pratt and sister Ada(Dave)Parton as well as sisters -in-law Eva Field and Ruth Black. The family of the late Mr Vernon Pratt will receive friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, Englehart, on Sunday, November 12, from 2-4 & 7-9 and Monday November 13, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Church, Englehart Ontario 9:45-10:45 am with the funeral service following at 11:00am. Interment following at the Charlton Cemetery, weather permitting. In memory contributions to the Englehart Museum Elevator Fund or Gospel Trust Canada will be greatly appreciated.
