Stefan “Steve” Stefanescu, - Avis de décès | Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative

Stefan “Steve” Stefanescu,

STEFAN “STEVE” STEFANESCU,

2021

Stefan Stefanescu
February 18, 1927 – October 19, 2020It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Stefan, at the age of 93, who passed away peacefully at the TPR with his daughter at his side.Stefan (or Steve as his friends would call him) will be fondly remembered by his daughter Nicole Allard (Scott Saunders), his son George Allard, his oldest son Paul Allard (Karen), his long love Ritva Raninen (Finland), and his wife whom he’d been married for 44 years but continued a friendship, Pauline Allard.  He will also be remembered by many friends, relatives, and the staff & residents at the TPR.He was born in Braila, Romania and came to Canada in 1951 as a refugee with nothing in his pockets.  He strived for a life of freedom and opportunity.  He came to Kirkland Lake in 1953 to work in the mines for $1 a day.  And this is where he found home for most of his life.  He always said he stayed since the people were so friendly.
He was a jack of none and a master of all trades. If he couldn’t fix something, he went and learned how.  Stefan worked at the mine by day, and was a true tradesperson and landlord by night.  He always strived to learn, and always encouraged his children to do the same.Anyone who knew Stefan would say he’s a small friendly guy that would help you if you needed it.  He rarely complained but did not take any grief either.  He would always stand up for what was right.  The man loved life to the fullest by all means and by keeping active lifestyle and dancing.Stefan was very spiritual and not religious.  This is not the end, but just a chapter.  He’s now at peace to dance the night away wherever he is.Donations in Stefan’s memory can be made to the Teck Pioneer Residence (kltpr.com) or the Advocates for Northern Animals (klana.ca) both in Kirkland Lake. There will be no service, since Stefan did not want a funeral or a party.  Just to remember him for how he touched your life and have a drink on him.  He was always humble that way.Offer Condolence for the family of Stefan “Steve” Stefanescu

I met Steve in North Bay and chatted with him many times while he lived in the city. He was truly a kind person and real gentleman and enjoyed spending time with his friends. May he rest in peace and may God Bless Him.
