Shirley Anne Teague (nee England),

SHIRLEY ANNE TEAGUE (NEE ENGLAND),

2021

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce Mom’s passing at Kirkland Lake Extendicare with family at her side on Friday, July 26, 2019.  Shirley is survived by her husband Norman of 61 years and will be forever loved and deeply missed by her children Alison (Glenn) Whyte of Kirkland Lake, Susan (Mike) Johnson of Lively, Laura (David) Breukelman of Burlington, Michael Teague of Sudbury; her grandchildren Eric Whyte of Timmins and Andrea Whyte of Kingston, Benjamin Johnson of Kirkland Lake and Olivia Johnson of Lively and special family friend Carol Flewelling Lobo of Ajax. She was Aunt Shirley to Patrick (Kathy) Murphy, Virginia (Todd) Temple, Allen Murphy, Jim (Kathy) McLenaghan, Patricia (Allen) Ahola, Sandra (Carlo) Dal Pai, Nancy (Sean) O’Connor and Marjorie (Paul) Harvey. She is predeceased by her brother James England of Haileybury and her sister Christena Murphy of New Liskeard.Mom was born May 27, 1935 in New Liskeard, Ontario. She moved to Kirkland Lake in 1958 to begin her married life with Norman Teague on Algonquin Avenue where she became an icon on the street. Mom was the best Mother we could have ever asked for and was completely devoted to her family. Her love for New Liskeard never wavered, as we spent many weekends there visiting family. Nan loved her grandchildren dearly; she was always ready with cups of tea and bowls of ice cream with sprinkles. She taught us life’s most important lessons and always reminded us to be good and stay safe. Mom instilled her love for nature in all those who knew her; she was a great weather forecaster, geologist, bird watcher, gardening guru and lover of animals. Mom’s life was filled with wonderful friends and neighbours. She absolutely loved walking downtown with her best friend Jenny Pessah. Her pockets were always filled with little treasures she’d found along the way. Mom cherished her role as a caregiver to many wonderful children. She was compassionate and generous to those in need.We would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the loving care and kindness provided by the Extendicare staff on the Third Floor over the past three years and by the health care team at Kirkland and District Hospital.Celebration of Life:

I was fortunate enough to meet Shirley at Lauras years ago. She fed us with her famous spaghetti sauce! So sorry for your loss and I hope you find comfort in your beautiful Memories.

Growing up next door to the Teagues, my most vibrant memory of Mrs Teague is of her tending to her beautiful garden and feeding a vast array of birds (and chipmunks). Not a bad view at all! Sending condolences and best wishes from my family to yours.

My sympathy to you Norm, and your children – I will always have the memories of Coffee Time (Tea) at McDonald’s with Shirley, also enjoyed the times in her garden, that she loved and cared for so much, the many plants she grew and shared with everyone, the many cactus she gave me. Sorry I will miss the Celebration of Life, but I will be there in spirit from Edmonton Janine Johnson

The Teague Family my amazing neighbors when I lived on 20 Algonquin. I am sorry for your loss. I hope over time that the pain will disappear and only the great memories will remain. Mrs. Teague helped me raise my son. She provided childcare and was always supportive and caring. She always had time to chat and had a great story to tell. She walked with Lucas hand in hand on their daily adventure. She provided childcare for many, and she holds a special place in everyones heart. She truly is special to all that know her and raised an amazing family and many more in child care.
