The Scottish Warrior The Scottish Warrior, Sheila Jean Lang Todd Harper Kozak, was born September 24, 1924 in Paisley, Scotland, she passed away in the wee hours December 4, 2012 at the Northview Nursing Home, Englehart. Beloved daughter of the late James and Margarett Harper of Scotland and the late Uncle Jim and Aunt Peggy Fraser of Stoney Creek, Ontario. She is survived by her loving children M.J. (Mike) and Lois Kozak and Deb and Al Tibbles. Her much loved grandchildren Whitney Plamondon (Jason), Mark Kozak, Ryan Tibbles and Kate Kozak. She also leaves behind one beautiful little great granddaughter Avery Harper Plamondon, brother-in-law Henry Kozak, sisters-in-law Mary Fraser and Lottie Harper. She was predeceased by her parents, her Aunt and Uncle, her husband Ireneus (Oke) Kozak, her brothers Gordon and Jack Harper, her brother Ian Fraser and sisters-in-law Eva Harper and Joan Kozak. Shortly after her second birthday Sheila’s parents died. For a few years she and her brothers lived with various relatives. At age five she came to Canada to live with Aunt Peggy and Uncle Jim Fraser and cousin Ian. She spent most of her early life in Timmins, Ontario, attending both elementary and high school in the city. After graduating high school at age sixteen, she completed her nurses training at St. Mary’s in Timmins. She started her nursing career at Sunnybrooke Hospital in Toronto. She worked on the floor that rehabilitated amputee soldiers. She eventually joined the Red Cross Sisters of Nursing. She was posted all over, sometimes there was a doctor and sometimes there was not. This was nursing at it’s most basic. Englehart, her last posting, is where she met and married her husband Oke Kozak. They had two children. She continued to work in the nursing field, ultimately working her way to Director of Nursing. She retired in 1988 to a life of travel. Ironically she returned to the place she arrived 60 years ago, Northview Nursing Home, where she spent the last 3 years of her life. She is remembered by her children and grandchildren as a very kind and generous person, placing her family above herself. Mo Ghadh Bithhuan (My love Forever) In keeping with Sheila’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
