WITTY, Ross
1942 - 2025
Ross Alan Witty, 82, of Swastika, Ontario, passed away peacefully at his home on January 3, 2025.
A funeral service to celebrate Ross's life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative, located at 111 Burnside Drive, Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Reverend Peter Naylor of Riverside Community Church will officiate.
Visitation will take place at the same location on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and again on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, prior to the service. Arrangements are being handled by Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative.
Ross was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, on June 6, 1942, to Delbert and Reta Witty. Over his long and dedicated career, Ross worked for Ontario Northland Railway, W. Roy Thompson Fuels, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and Westinghouse, retiring in 1992 after 36 years of service.
Ross was a man of simple joys and a deep connection to nature. He found happiness in the great outdoors, whether fishing, riding his ATV, or working on his cherished hobby farms in Otto Township. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.
Ross is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Anna Witty, of Swastika, Ontario; his daughter Wendy (Mario Mannella) of Calgary, Alberta; his son Richard (Angela Davis-Witty) of Swastika, Ontario; his sisters Donna Legros of Kirkland Lake and Cindy Mlodzenc of West Nipissing, Ontario; his grandchildren Sophie, Jessica, Greyson, Maxwell, and Jack; his great-grandchildren Nathan and Marissa; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Delbert Witty and Reta Mercier, and his brother, Grant Witty.
Memorial donations in Ross’s memory can be made to the Blanche River Health Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 87, Kirkland Lake.
The Witty family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jessica Moore and the compassionate healthcare professionals and caregivers from Blanche River Health-Kirkland District Hospital, the Victorian Order of Nurses, Closing the Gap Healthcare, and Community Paramedicine for their exceptional care and support.
Ross’s steadfast love for his family and passion for life will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Anna i know how much your beloved Ross ment to you..Your life together was a tribute to the perfect love and marriage.. To see you together in the early years Ross was your protectory and a greatfather to the children.. .. Ross took to dad right ftom the beginning learning the stories and passing them on to Richard who kept them to pass on to his kids and grand kids.. You and Ross left a legacy of love to your family of great parents .. and grand parents..Will miss Ross ..visits back to kirkland will be a little different without him.my condolences to you and your family.
