I only just learned of Ron’s passing. Such a loss to his family and the town of Kirkland Lake. He replaced the zipper in my leather purse for me many years ago and said it should last forever…seems to be holding true so far. I loved dropping by his shop..the smell of leather and shoe polish reminded me of my own grandfather’s shoe repair shop when I was just a child. We had a long conversation about his dad’s and my gramp’s profession and the new “throw away society”. He will be missed.

Ron repaired many of my shoes while growing up in Kirkland. He always welcomed every customer with a warm greeting and he truly appreciated their business. I left KL many years ago but in the past couple of years, re-acquainted with him as we have a cottage on Round. He was a kind soul! RIP Ron….will miss you on the lake!
