Loved and thought of often. She truly was a special sister-in-law and aunt.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mrs. Rita Portelance announces her unexpected passing at the Kirkland & District Hospital at the age of 87 years. She was a long time resident of Kenogami Lake. Rita’s membership in both Fille d’isabelle and Club 50+ gave her much pleasure. She was predeceased by: her parents Catherine (nee Richard) and Leon Hamelin of Ile du Grand Calumet; her husband Chris Portelance; son, Joseph Portelance; two grandsons, two brothers and a stepmother. Rita is remembered by: her son and daughter-in-law, Denis and Diane Portelance,and daughter-in-law Linda (all of Kirkland Lake); seven grandchildren Melisa, Leo, Denise, Robert, Cindy, Andre and Paul; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Monette & French Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the “Teck-Hughes” Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Henri Touaboy officiating. Rita will be cremated and laid to rest beside her loving husband in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery at a later date.
