My wife had surgery for a bunion on her foot in 2011 and had to go back there at a later date. I was not able to drive my wife because of health issues so we asked Perry if he would drive Elizabeth down for the check up. He said he would. Perry got off of work on the morning of the check up and took my wife to North Bay for the appointment. He stayed with her at the hospital during the appointment and they went to a restaurant for lunch after that. I had asked him if he would go to the medical supply place in North Bay to return the walker we had rented earlier. They stopped at a place or two on the way home and returned my wife to me at our home later in the afternoon safe and sound. This does not sound like much but to consider this man got off of work after a night shift, drove 150 miles to North Bay, helped my wife attend an appointment to remove a foot caste, did an errand for me and even bought lunch for both of them, plus drove all of the way home again. The most important part is that Perry did all of these things and wouldn’t let us pay a cent towards the cost. He is an excellent gentleman, one of the best friends a person could ask for!!!!

Perry was my last nursing student that I had the honour to get him through clinical. He was a wonderful kind caring nurse, and everyone he took care of got his best always. He had such a big heart and smile. I remember after I retired 2004 Christmas him and Katherine brought over a basket of homemade goodies, he loved to cook too. He loved life and people, and I am so glad that I was one of those people who got to know him. Perry ‘s time on earth was too short but he left behind great times and memories for those he left behind. He will be missed by all. Katherine and family so sorry for your loss. At one point in nursing school I went through a bit of a rough time, one day in conversation I mentioned that I liked cherry cheesecake, sure enough the next day Perry brought me a home made cherry cheesecake. It was such a small gesture to him but meant so much to me…….to this day I haven’t had a better tasting cheesecake then Perrys. Thanks Perry.

I met Perry in nursing school and realized what an amazing genuine caring person he was. I also had another friend who I thought was equally special….both had been a little unlucky in love. I remember telling Perry one day…”You tell me when you’re ready…i know the perfect girl for you…don’t bother dating anymore…she’s THE ONE”. Well after a while he came to me and said he wanted to meet my friend. I knew they were destined for each other….and it wasn’t long before they knew it too. I’m so happy that you had each other….wish it could have been longer….Katherine…our soulmates never leave us….he’s right there with you always. You see the picture I chose? I picked it because he was smiling at you….and look at his face…your love lights up his face!! Love you all so much, Shannon xo

I got to see what a kind, caring person Perry was first as his teacher, then as his co worker and most recently as the grateful family member of one of his patients. Perry was always there to help who ever needed it without having to be asked, always did it with a smile and never expected anything in return. He will be missed by so many people whose lives he touched. My thoughts and prayers are with Katherine and family. Kathy

I was first introduced to Perry when he came to work at extendicare. I had always heard of great things about Perry and I was so excited. Perry became my full time charge nurse on evenings and a forever friend. Perry always thought of others first. I remember a time this little old lady at extendicare would come to sit at the nursing station when she noticed that Perry was working. He would ask her if she wanted a candy, that he would buy especially for her. Her eyes would light up and she would smile the biggest smile ever. She would stare at him while eating her candy like she was in love. This moment would brighten up Perry’s night and the staff around them. Perry would also go out of his way to bring another resident black licorice candy just because. He would also come back from a Toronto trip with candies from THE CANDY SHOP for the staff and their kids. Those were the little things that made him so very special. I also remember when Katherine and Perry would make supper for the staff and she would bring it to us in time for supper. He always talked about his beautiful Katherine and bragged about their kids. Perry ALWAYS put others first even in his worst of times. Perry was an inspiration to lots and a friend to all. Perry you are my hero and your name, memories and thoughtful acts will always be remembered. I will think of you always and you will be in my heart forever.

I grew up with the Bradt family as my neighbours and best friends and I can remember the excitement when Perry was born. It was just like having my own little brother. Perry was different from the rest of us…he was adventurous and marched to his own drum. I hope he’s still marching to that drum. Perry- you will be missed, Eileen

I have known Perry for my whole life, He has been a family friend. My dad and him we’re really close. I remember always being so excited when Perry would come around.I used to bike to his house as a young kid, going to his cottage, him giving me his delicious pickled carrots and so many memeories.Perry and Katherine even took the time and made all the beautiful deocrations for my wedding, never wanted anything in return. ..I will nenver forget that. You will be missed deeply by so many people. Thier needs to be more people like him in the world. Perry had such an honest smile with the biggest heart!

Jordana Connors, le 1 mars 2021

One word to describe Perry…inspiration….Perry was our good family friend…he taught my kids alot and was very good to them.he had a heart of gold…his kindness to everyone never ended…was always there for you whenever you needed him..kaley and kendra loved your pickled carrots that you and Katherine gave us every year….you will be missed !!!

Dee Seaton, le 1 mars 2021

When Perry became our neighbour I knew we were very lucky….he had such a big and generous heart….there wasn’t anything that he wouldn’t do if he thought that it would help someone…my mother was in the hospital and had Perry as her nurse..she had a accident that made a awful mess but Perry being himself just said no problem and got down on his knees and cleaned it up…later she had him as a VON and was so pleased with his caring ways and professionalism….as a neighbour there was nothing that he would not do to help us out….in 2005 my husband came down with cancer and Perry was there if we ever needed him and in 2011 when I lost my husband Perry was there sometimes just to talk to me and listen to me and las year when my lilac tree was taking over the street he so generously trim it so nice….Perry we will miss your lovely smile and the calmness that you gave me….you always made me feel important and for that I thank you….Kate keep him close and he will always be there for you …watching over you just like Gord does for me….God speed my friend

Words that come to mind when I think of Perry: kind, caring, considerate, kind hearted, generous, compassoinate, gentle, warm, giving, loving, faithful, likeable, unselfish, encourager, exceptional chef/baker, energetic, enthusiastic, thorough, knowledgeable, professional, fair, sensitive, ambitious, courageous, funny, friendly, trustworthy. Perry has and will forever hold a special place in my heart. I was blessed to have experienced Perrys unconditional friendship. He has definitely left his footprint in the sand. Katherine and Children and Bradt family: I was truly saddened to learn of the passing of Perry. I knew him on and off the job and i can truly say he gave 100% to any task whether it was in his professional capacity or in his day to day life. Perry was a strong person who truly cherished helping others. Reading the testaments of others you can see how well thought of he is and how missed he will be.

To the Bradt Family….We are so sorry to hear of Perry’s passing. I had always seen Perry around when he was younger and growing up, then back in the early 2000s I had made a trip to Vancouver with Perry in the truck for ATS…that is when I really got to know him and he always had a smile on his face and seemed to enjoy life to the fullest. He was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone and everyone. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayer are with you at this sad time.

Perry worked with me at the Family Health Team last year. He was by far the most energetic, caring, hardest worker that I have ever known. When we worked together I had to practically race him to care for a patient because he was on the ball just waiting for the next one. When he wasn’t doing his best in the clinic, he was whipping up wonderful creations in the kitchen to bring to us at work for everyone to enjoy. He was so thoughtful. Even when he had to leave us, he was still baking for us without a knee and would have Katherine bring it in to us. I don’t think I will ever meet another man as kind as Perry. My thoughts are with his family during this incredibly difficult time.

Sarah Sasseville, le 1 mars 2021

Perry was a wonderful man…it is hard to believe that he is gone. He had a gentle heart and was a wonderful nurse. I was proud to call him a colleague and friend.

Debbie Desjardins, le 1 mars 2021

We are so very sorry to hear about Perry. We have known Perry only for a few years, when he met our daughter Katherine. He has been so wonderful to her and our grandchildren, what a undertaking for him. We shall never forget him. I will always remember him in the kitchen making food for us when we came to visit. Another great memory is when he arranged a day outing for us on the lake we had a wonderful day outing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this saddened time. Love to you all, Mom & Dad.

Mom, Dad & Carl Woodhead, le 1 mars 2021

My Uncle Perry was so funny! He would always call me Pinocchio . And come to think of it….. I can’t even remember why. It was only over the last three years that I started calling him Pinocchio back. He was fun to be around, always making jokes and telling stories… And most of all making you feel welcomed and happy! And I hope that when it does come time for his special ceremony that the people attending do not wear all black and think of how sad it is that he is not with us… But wear even just a little green.. The colour of life! Because my uncle perry was not sad his whole life… No that was not his nature his nature was to be happy! So please when you think of my uncle perry think of happiness. ” Please God help us to remember the good things in life and to always cherish them thank you for the time you have given my uncle perry to live and bless all the lives that he has ever encountered, and please God help us to be happy here on earth and live out our full lives and please help us to not be worried or upset for to long because we know he is safe with you and although we will never forget him let us be able to try to move on and wait until that day when we can meet again, Amen.” We love you uncle perry and if you can see this right now….. Don’t forget that your Pinocchio. Love, me

The ANGEL that was Perry has left earth and is now an ANGEL in Heaven. He was there for our mother up to the minute she passed. He helped me through some stress during my illness. He’s been a source of GREAT JOY in our lives and he is still bringing joy to all who remember him. I and some of my family have very fond memories of him. He’s looking down and watching over you and your family and smiling at those he cared about. He is no longer suffering. We will miss him and we wish the best for you and your children. May GOD Bless and keep you safe. The family of Bea Lavictoire.

I was so saddened to hear the passing of Perry.I grew up close to the Bradt family and it breaks my heart that they have to go through something so tragic. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers and that perrys smile will live on forever in our memories.

Jackie Simmens Leduc, le 1 mars 2021

I worked with Perry for almost 20 years at a local Englehart business in the 1980’s & 1990’s. He was such a dedicated and dependable worker. His sense of humor, smile and dimples got us through any difficult days. And then there was ski patrol at Raven Mountain. I would have not joined without the encouragement of Perry and his brother Rob. It was a great experience with the two of them. Although I did not see Perry as much once his life centered in Kirkland Lake, when he did go to the Englehart Public School to visit Rob, he came to my classroom and we had a good gab. You are a great friend and person and I will miss you. But you will always be in my heart!

Bonnie Warner, le 1 mars 2021

Perry was my full time RN at extendicare, he was one of the most kindest and most caring people that I know. I am proud to say that I was able to work with him and learn from him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this time of need.

Katherine I am so sorry to hear about Perry. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. He always lit up a room when he would smile and laugh. Times when it would be a bad day in nursing class he would find something to be positive and make us smile about. He was a positive energy.

Rose Lapointe, le 1 mars 2021

Dear Katherine, Please know that Perry’s beautiful smile will always be remembered by all that where fortunate enough to know him. It is very difficult to believe he is gone. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

My bio Father

I figure now that a decade has passed it is time that the truth comes out. I was Perry's only bio child - notice I am not listed that is because he walked out on me when I was 8 years' old. He told his brother, Robin, to tell me that he wasn't ready to be a dad. A little late for that. But the real reason was his young girlfriends not wanting a kid around every other weekend.

That was the last time I spoke to him or anyone in the Bradt family. I tried a few times, once when I was 14 and again when I was 16 to reconnect but no avail. Robin is well aware of this and I expect realizes how terrible his family is but they still made no effort.

I wonder if the person who wrote this obit even knew of my existence? if not, ask around, they will confirm. He was even still legally married to my mother. Shocking I know - the web of lies.

Really gross of all of you to talk about how great he was when some of you know exactly what he did. Hell even my own blood aunt, Nancy, is praising this deadbeat - shows how much she cares about harm caused to her blood niece. We should hold people to the standards they were when they lived, not some made up fantasy after they die.

Maybe he did become a better person later in life but as his only biological child, I can only speak of my experiences and the fact that I am not even mentioned speaks volumes. At least my grandparents listed me as existing in their obits.

So Perry - you were a deadbeat father who abandoned your kid. Took me 10 years after your death to say my what needs to be said. Stop idolizing deadbeats.
