Pre-deceased by his son Bryan Mitchell, parents Sam & Gladys Mitchell, brothers Milton Mitchell, Glen Mitchell and Jackie Mitchell. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Mitchell, son Richard Mitchell and daughter Sherry Beaulieu (Dan), and Judy Mitchell (Daughter in law). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Tera Blackburn (Kevin), Scotty Mitchell (Kendra Plaunt), Ashley Beaulieu (Joe Veltri); treasured great-grandchildren Reese & Benson Blackburn, Krew & Tyce Mitchell and sister Faye Mitchell Warren (Bill). Mervyn was a hard working and very energetic man. He was the happiest when he was driving large dump trucks and bulldozers. There was always an exceptionally large grin upon his face. Mervyn owned and operated his own Saw Mill as well as Trucking company,(Mervyn Mitchell Trucking Ltd) for numerous years. Mervyn also was employed for a substantial period for Riverside Aggragates allowing him the opportunity to do what he loved best-Operating a Bulldozer/Driving a Dump Truck. Mervyn was a devoted and loving husband ,father and grandfather. There was not anything that Mervyn would not do for his family. He loved spending time with loved ones and would be there at the drop of a hat in a time of need such as attending his grand-daughters home in the middle of the night to bail water from flood or catch a mouse. Mervyn struggled to sit still and was always on the move. Mervyn enjoyed long car rides exploring the country side, attending his favorite restaurants, tending to his tomato plants, and adventuring off to Casino Rama to try his luck at winning the Jackpot. Mervyn had numerous attributes that were observed and noted by others. Mervyn could make friends with anyone without even trying due to his kind and friendly disposition. Mervyn always had a song or dance/special sayings for everything and could make light of a difficult situation for all involved. Mervyn`s sheer determination was always noted as he `beat to his own drum` and when he set his mind to something would never give up despite what others thought. Mervyn was an amazing grandfather and always invested time to create many cherished memories with each one. He could always be easily swayed into purchases primarily those his grandchildren truly desired such as over priced stuffed animals, scooters, books and Ice cream!! Mervyn was also supportive of his grandchildren`s hopes and dreams and encouraged us all to `reach for the stars.` Mervyn encountered struggles within his life as we all do, however had determination, persistence and courage to move forward and conquer what he needed to. This exhibited his sheer strength and set an example for those he loved to follow. Mervyn (Grampsy) was an incredible man whom touched the lives of all that he encountered in one way or another. His spirit for `life` and his ability to light up a room with his mischievous grin will live on in our hearts forever. Your kindness, generosity, determination persistence, love and sense of adventure will live in all of us. We couldn`t have been blessed more to be part of your life and you ours. You will never be forgotten and loved eternity! In keeping with Mervyn`s wishes cremation has taken place and a small private memorial service will be planned at a later date. In memory contributions to the Northview Nursing Home Activity Fund will be greatly appreciated. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.mcdonaldfuneralhome.ca.
