My sincere condolences on the loss of an amazing woman. Some of my fondest memories are the ones when I use to sit on the step at Sauls ( I think I was about 3) and gaze at this elegant, impeccably dressed woman. I often watched in awe as she catered to her customers always knowing what they wanted or needed. My father was one of those men that would visit Marianne annually at Christmas to get something special for my mom. I was always just as excited as she was to see the Sauls box and wonder what Marianne had picked out this year for mom. When I was old enough Marianne took me under her wing and hired me to work in that same store. I was so excited watching Marianne work her magic and I learned so much, like if you buy pleated pants you can have the pleats altered in the opposite direction and there you have instant slimming. She also taught me that she would never ask anyone to do something that she wouldn’t do herself, so she scooped the dog poop in front of the store doors. She also taught me that vinegar and newspaper really is the best at cleaning glass windows. I hadn’t seen Marianne in a very long time but there is a piece of her that will always remain with me because of the values that she held so dear and passed on to an impressionable teenager so many years ago. I will never Forget Marianne’s straightforwardness and her awesome fashion sense. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to have known and shared that special time with her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Pamela Little

Dear Abe, Stephen and Martin, I am deeply sadden to learn of Marianne passing. I have many memories, especially of the many times our families skied together at Swastika, Raven and Tremblant. I remember our conversation when I last visited you at your home and we recalled our first trip to Tremblant way back in 1954. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Lorne Duke
