It is with heavy hearts that the family of Luc Marcel Joseph Boivin of Earlton, announce his sudden passing after a lengthy battle with kidney disease on May 5, 2021, at Health Sciences North in Sudbury. He was born in Cochrane, Ontario, the son of the late Marcel & Germaine (née Berthiaume) Boivin on March 11, 1960.
Luc was a loving husband, father, and brother who leaves behind his devoted wife of 38 years, Gabrielle-Carolle (née Gauthier), and his loving daughter Melissa Boivin (Sudbury). He is survived by his two siblings: Mona (late Daniel) Desforges and Daniel (Muriel) Boivin. Luc is also fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Guylaine Gauthier, Francine (John Henry) Commanda, and brother in laws Stephane (Laura) Gauthier and Martin Gauthier. He as well leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends were very important to Luc and he cared deeply for them, including his 5 dogs. He had a unique sense of humor, a passion for reading, and especially loved to share his knowledge of world history. Luc was also a dedicated miner for 39 years. He first started his mining career at Denison Mines in Elliot Lake in 1981, and for the last 12 years, he worked as a Miner 1 for Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. Throughout his mining career, Luc has made great friends and was well respected for his extensive knowledge and commitment to the mining trade.
In lieu of flowers, his family is asking for friends and relatives to kindly send donations in memory of Luc to the Kidney Foundation (https://kidney.akaraisin.com/ui/generaldonation/donations/start), Alzheimer’s Society (https://alzheimer.ca/en/take-action/donate) and to consider becoming an organ donor.
