Julie McGinnis (nee MacInnis),

JULIE MCGINNIS (NEE MACINNIS),

2021

It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of our dear mother, Julie McGinnis on April 1, 2019. She was predeceased by her husband John R. (Jack) McGinnis, parents Alec and Elizabeth MacInnis, sisters, Catherine, (Gerry) Winterhalt, Christine (Fern) Marsan, Margaret (Richard) Lothian. Daughter Leslie-Ann, eldest son John and grandson Jake. Survived and lovingly remembered by her boys, Robert, and William (Cori), grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Julie was born in Glendale, Inverness County, Nova Scotia. She often spoke about her years growing up and her fond childhood memories of time spent on her grandparents farm with her sisters. Her family then moved to Kirkland Lake, where she attended school and then became an operator at the Northern Telephone switchboard office. She was a life long member of Holy Name Parish. In 1957 she married the love of her life, Jack McGinnis and they purchased and operated Kenogami Garage, while raising their family in the business until 2003. Julie will always be remembered by those who knew her as having quick wit, love of laughter and being the life of the party, without knowing it, and not afraid to set you straight. She enjoyed the outdoors, working in the yard, snowmobiling, fishing, cookouts, and family gatherings. She spent her lifetime working in the family business and devoted to her boys. She was happiest when she had everyone working and getting the job done. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Father Mitch, Dr. Kurki, Dr. Jordan, Betty Smallwood and the nurses on the 4th floor at the Kirkland & District Hospital. The dedication, kindness and compassion shown towards Julie and the family will always be remembered.DISPOSITION:

I would like to send my condolences to Julie’s two sons. She will be greatly missed. We always had long discussions when we bumped into each other at the supermarket. I’ve known her for a very long time. We worked many years together at the Telephone Office. R.I.P.

My sincere condolences to the family. My very first summer job at the age of 14 was at the Kenogami Garage, working for Jack and Julie. I often tell my kids about cycling every day from Kirkland Lake (the Federal) and back to that job. My Dad told Jack not to pay me more than 50 cents an hour because I had to learn the value of money. It worked. One day, soon after I started the job, an American tourist passing through, stopped to get a tire repaired. As Jack was out on a call, inexperienced as I was, I “fixed” the tire. An hour later, the American was back with his flat tire once again. Jack kindly showed me how to fix a flat as Julie smiled in the background, knowing that I had at least tried to be helpful. They were so kind to me. I’ve never forgotten them and how kind and patient they were with me. I will stop by the Garage in late June when I’m up for the K.L. 100th Anniversary and pay my respects to their memory. To Jack and Julie’s children and grandchildren: you’ve got great roots. So sorry for your loss.

My heart breaks knowing that Julie will no longer share in our wonderful conversations, and heartfelt talks. I had a special place in my heart for Julie, as I have been a part of her happy times as well as her sad times just as she was, to mine. Sincere condolences to the family and know that she is where she wished to be, next to her beloved husband. I will deeply miss her.

To Bill Robert, families and friends: I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Although I don’t believe I ever met her, She had a warm spot in her heart for all O.P.P.s who frequented the business at the bridge. Of course, these were all the good ole police Also, although I don’t believe I met Robert, I am sure he loved his mom just as much as Bill. May the many great memories of her, as well as her Love and kindness comfort all at this time of loss. For Julie: Eternal Rest grant unto her, Oh Lord, and may Your Perpetual Light shine upon her. God bless.
