My thoughts and prayers are with you, Leslie, and your family. Your father is now fishing with “The” Fisher of Men, and telling Him some “fish” stories :o)
It is with great sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of Joe Merhar at his home on Tuesday, February 19, 2008. Joe worked at the Kerr Addison Mine for 38 years, until its closing. He is predeceased by his parents John and Mary Merhar, twin brother Frank and brother-in-law Gary Morash. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Carol (née Siuty); beloved children Christopher and Leslie (Tony); his cherished grandchildren Corey and Kristin Gaston, Scott Merhar as well as many nieces and nephews. Joe also leaves to mourn his brother John (June) Merhar and sister Alline Morash, as well as sisters-in-law Betty Merhar and Helen (Ken) Sutton. Joe loved his children and grandchildren. He was an avid collector of hockey cards, coins and other memorabilia. Joe was most at home with the outdoors and nature. He was an avid fisherman and could often be seen on his pontoon boat on Kenogami Lake. The family will be receiving friends at the MONETTE & FRENCH FUNERAL HOME (450 Government Road West, Kirkland Lake, ON., 705-567-3565) on Saturday, February 23rd from 1 to 3pm. A prayer service will immediately follow the visitation. A private family burial will be held in the spring at the Kirkland Lake Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (P.O. Box 1122, Kirkland Lake, ON., P2N 3M7).Offer Condolence for the family of Joseph Merhar
