Sam, Dave, and the Gamble family We are so sorry to hear the news of John’s death. As a long-time residents of the townsite neighbourhood we shared many experiences while growing up and continued our friendship as we grew older. He was a good person who had a variety of interests and we will miss our many conversations. Our condolences–Brian and Gale

Barbara and I are saddened to learn of the loss of , whom I called, Johnny. As a first cousin, I have known Johnny since he was first born and we spent summers together at our grandmother’s summer home at Aylmer QC. This was during the war when his Dad, my uncle, was away during WW2. I was 9 years old when Johnny was born so I clearly remember the events and his growing up. During his Ashbury days he and brother Sam visited my parents for Sunday escapes from school. I was in Toronto at that time. As time went on we sort of lost touch, which I deeply regret. My last meeting was in 1991 when, following my retirement I managed the decommissioning of the Imperial Oil terminal in Swastika. My sincerest condolences to Johnny’s family and all in Kirkland Lake. HIs good humour, kindness and contagious congeniality will be greatly missed. Michael & Barbara Heney

To the family and friends of John Gamble, please accept my condolence. Death of a loved one is never easy for us to overcome, but the Bible holds out a marvelous hope to see our loved ones again in perfect health. The Bible promises that all in the grave, including John, will be resurrected back to a peaceful new earth where sickness and death will be gone. (Acts 24:15; Psalm 37:11; Isaiah 33:24; Revelation 21:4) To read or listen to the Bible’s answer to the question, “Can the Dead Really Live Again?”, type the following URL into your browser: tinyurl.com/mezwv23. There is nothing I can say to stop your pain, but I hope the above scriptures help ease your pain in the days ahead.

I probably haven’t seen John for 30 years at least, but I remember him fondly. Time flies. At times like these I wish I had stayed in touch. After 35 years, I am finally leaving Yellowknife and moving back to Ottawa. My thoughts are with the Kirkland Lake branch of the Gamble clan.

Andrew Gamble, le 1 mars 2021

My condolences to all of you in your loss.

My sincere condolences to all of John’s family. I have fond memories. I worked with him for many summers at TNR during the summer months when I was a student in the 1960’s. He was always a considerate and kind person to talk too and work for. When I would meet him in later life on my visits to KL we had some great discussions. He will be missed.
