MCLENNAN, John
1931 - 2023
In loving memory of John Donald McLennan who passed
away at the Temiskaming Hospital, New Liskeard,
Ontario, on March 2, 2023 at the age of 91, after a long
struggle with diabetes. John was born in Toronto, ON on
May 11, 1931.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years,
Elaine (Pellerin) McLennan, his mother, Lottie (Porter)
McLennan, his daughter Jill (McLennan) Jennings,
brothers Ronald and Aubrey McLennan, sisters Audrey
McLennan and Shirley (McLennan) Ruff and brother-in-
law Claude Pellerin.
He is survived by his loving family, daughter Lorri Spaans
(Brent Field), daughter Patricia Lucas, son Christopher
McLennan, granddaughter Lauren and grandsons Kent
and Scott Jennings, grandson Kyle Spaans (Lavianka),
granddaughter Kristen Fleetham (Dale), granddaughter
Alicia Lucas (Jamie Martin), grandsons Rylend (Jamie),
Brodan (Rylie), and Connor McLennan (Mackenzie).
He leaves behind great-granddaughters Scotlyn
Fleetham, Aubrielle McLennan and Keegan Spaans and
great-grandsons, Emerson and Jaxon McLennan.
John is lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law
Mickey Major (Joanne), sister-in-law Bertha (Edwards)
Pellerin and their families.
He is also survived by many family members on Elaine’s
side and his remaining family.
John will always be remembered for always putting his
family first and for his cheerful, positive attitude.
John worked as a butcher, in his younger years, where he
served many a happy customer at Fillingham’s Store. He
later worked for the Ministry of Natural Resources as a
warehouse man and scaler. He worked as a scaler for H.
Fiset & Sons where he worked alongside Elaine as his
tally person. They loved working together and having
their lunches with the cutters from Quebec. He also
worked as a very popular cook for H. Fiset & Sons where
he served his workers delicious meals. He loved
gardening, spending time outdoors with his family and
walking his two Golden Retrievers, Missy and Teeka with
his wife and best friend, Elaine.
The family of the late John McLennan wish to thank Dr.
Stacy Desilets for the special care that she provided for
their father with great love and devotion. They would
also like to thank the Temiskaming Hospital staff and the
Northdale Manor staff for the care that he received while
he was there. They are also very grateful for the many
family and friends that provided support and sent
messages of sympathy during these challenging times.
The family of both the late John and Elaine McLennan
will hold a Celebration of Life to honour their parents at
the Elk Lake Eco Centre on Saturday May 27, 2023. The
ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm with a luncheon to
being served from 2:00 – 4:00 pm with the internment
to follow at the Elk Lake Public Cemetary.
