Tracy, I realize this is a little late but I just found out about John’s untimely death. I attended Northern 1972 – 1975 and met John through his brother Frank. During my 3 years in Kirkland Lake I got to know John very well when the three of us would hangout. After college we drifted apart, although we still had some good times when John came to visit Frank in Toronto. I haven’t seen John for 36 yrs and was quite shocked to read of his premature death. Please accept my most sincere condolence to you and your family. Johnny was a good guy and I liked him a lot. I’ll miss him!! George Hourtovenko, Hamilton

My name is Abdylla, I worked with John in Kazakhstan and with great sorrow I have learnt the news that one of my personal friends and teammates, John, had passed away. John has left us too early â there are so many great things he could have reached, so many things he could have taught us, so many jokes he could have shared with us… I am happy of having had a chance of knowing him and working with him; and I regret that it was that short. We all will be missing you, John. I express my deepest condolences to Johnâs family and relatives. May the Almighty extend His grace and mercy upon him. Abdylla Tachmammedov

I’m an ex-Nabors employee who has worked with John in the past. I’m presently not in Canada and was informed of this Dec. 12th. I spoke to John only a few weeks ago. It is definitely a shock and a loss of a good friend. Words are not able to express my feelings for you and your family during these times. I regret that the only way I presently have to pay my respects are by through this message.

Please accept my condolences on Johns passing. We have worked together since 2001, and spent lots of time together. Family and children were always a topic of discussion and shared stories. With both of us having young families, it was easier to relate to one another. Thanks and Regards Daniel Stevenson and Family

Hello Tracy. My name is Kurt Delorme I am greatly saddened for your loss of a great person that loved you very much. I am one of the rig managers in Kazakhstan. I was working there when John first came into the country and I have the true pleasure of calling him a friend. Reflecting in this very sad time I find myself very humbled by Johnâs character and love for his family. We would talk every morning on the phone about what was going on at the job but it was always just a minute or two before our talk turned to regular chatting between friends and what was going on in ours and our familyâs lives. I wish I had known him longer. I feel myself a better person for knowing his inability to compromise his love for his family, his character and his work ethic. John is a remarkable man and will be dearly missed. My warmest Regards from myself and my fiancée whom also worked with John. Kurt Delorme and Samal Karayeva

Dear Tacey, Brianna, Nicholas, Jacob & Sean, and families: Words cannot express how deeply saddened we are to hear of John’s passing. You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult time. Tracey, please know that your friends are with you and at anytime if we can do anything for you to please let us know. We are a phone call away. During the last couple of days I was reflecting on some of the ‘chat’s’ I had with John at the arena during hockey games and on the soccer field about photography, computers, cell phones and all the other new technology out on the market. John was always interested in the ‘new stuff’ to better enable him to do business and to provide the best for his family. I recall when Sean was born, I never seen John so happy. Bob and I were at the arena that day and he was so excited telling everyone his news of the new addition to the family he was so proud of you and the kids. I also remember, not too long ago, John came into the store while I was there to purchase a new computer for Brianna because he said, “she a teenager and she needed one!” He chuckled when he spoke. I told him if there was an award for father-of-the-year he would certainly get it. These are the times that we reflect on the type of person John was. We will always have fond memories of John as an attractive soft spoken man who was a caring and dedicated father and husband. With our sincerest condolences, Bob, Shannon, Darian & Cassie Galarneau
