James A. Cullen, - Avis de décès | Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative

James A. Cullen,

JAMES A. CULLEN,

2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Alexander Cullen on July 3, 2014 at the age of 79 in the Kirkland & District Hospital. Jim was born in 1935 to the late Isabel “Dolly” and Joseph Cullen in Kirkland Lake, where he spent many happy years of his life. He is predeceased by his sister, Joan Overton. He is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Pearson and Christina Tregoning, his brother, Joseph Cullen Jr., and his children, Shirley Cullen, Catherine “Princess” Cormier, James “Jimmer” Cullen Jr., and Jennifer “Sugar Plum” Pisani. Jim was a grandfather to six, Shaun Strevez, Sara Cormier, Christopher Talmage, Molly Cormier, Emma Cullen and Gage Pisani. He was a great-grandfather to two, Grace Talmage and Marshall Strevez. He was a man who loved his family deeply. His family of course included many of his friends. He gave much back to the community as a volunteer firefighter, hockey coach, Freemason, legion member, and dogcatcher. Serving for the Canadian Naval Forces was his way of giving back to his country. He wouldn’t have hesitated to give the shirt off his back to a person in need, and everyone around him knew they were always welcome in his home. The stories he shared and lessons he taught us will stay with those he knew for many years to come. We remember him fondly as the happy, strong, proud man he was. As Jim always said, you could call him anything, but never ever call him late for dinner. He was a man who wanted “no muss, no fuss”. To honour his wishes there will be a simple service held for family and friends who wish to attend on Tuesday, July 8th at 10AM at the French Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Alzheimer’s Society. Special thanks to the staff of Kirkland & District Hospital and Rose-Mary for their special care during his final days.Offer Condolence for the family of James A. Cullen

Years ago I got to know your dad, Jim, thru Fran Legacy. I spent many weekends at your dad’s cottage on the island. Oh how much he loved the peace and tranquility of the time he spent with friends there. He was so good to my children when they were young and to myself as well. My condolences go to his children, grandchildren and siblings. May he rest in peace.

Cathy – So sorry to read of your Father’s passing. My heart goes out to you and your family. I lost my dad a couple of years ago at the same age, and miss him terribly. He was the glue to our family. I hope good memories of your dad help you cope with your loss. Hugs from Cape Breton.

I would like to express my sympathies to the family of Jim Cullen. Jim was my uncle. I am the daughter of Irene (Daigle) Lafrance, and I reside here in Kirkland Lake. Although I didn’t see Uncle Jim too often, we did see each other on many occasions and we always had long conversations which were very pleasant and had a lot of good laughs. I for one will miss him dearly he was a good person. My mom is now at Teck Pioneer Residence and also wishes to extend her sympathies to her nieces and nephews at this very difficult time. I will be attending the service and hope to meet my cousins which I haven’t seen since we were small children. May he now Rest in Peace.
