John Herbert (Jake) Armstrong of Englehart passed peacefully at the Kirkland Lake and District Hospital on February 10, 2020. Jake was born to John Wilbert Armstrong and Marjorie Armstrong in Fonthill Ontario April 24, 1938. Jake completed his high school at Pelham District High School in Fenwick Ontario. Upon graduation, Jake joined the Imperial Bank of Canada in 1958 as a teller. In 1959 Jake was transferred to the Englehart branch of the CIBC. In 1962 Jake was recruited by Gordon Sparks to join the Englehart & District Hospital as the office manager. Jake furthered his education by completing a Financial Administration as well as a Hospital Administration degree from the University of Manitoba. Jake was soon promoted to the Hospital Administrator position and held this position until he retired in 1996 after 34 years of service. Jake was an active member of the community holding positions in the Kinsmen Club, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Local Churchs, Volunteer Fireman to name a few. Jake was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. Mr Armstrong is predeceased by his wife Margaret; survived by 3 sons Ron (Micheline), Cam (Michele), Eric; 2 daughters Laurie (Barb), Karen (Ivan) Mangotich, 9 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren and his sister Carm Guinn. Jake's memorial service will be rescheduled as a result of the the Covid 19 outbreak. In memory contributions can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
