Mrs. Ida Castonguay passed away peacefully at the Teck Pioneer Residence on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the age of 85 years. Ida was predeceased by her husband Fernand Castonguay in 1996; her parents François and Emma Côté; 8 brothers and sisters and an infant daughter, Estelle. She is survived by her children Margo (husband Normand) Jolette of Virginiatown, Lucy (husband Moe) Dinel, Vivianne (husband Delmar) Brasch both of Kirkland Lake and Marcel (wife Lorraine) Castonguay of St.Catharines; dearly missed by her sister Annette MacKenzie. She is survived by ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Teck Pioneer Residence on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a service from the Teck Pioneer Residence Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Father Henry officiating. Ida worked for the Kirkland & District Hospital for 30 years as a nurse’s assistant. She loved to sew for her children and grandchildren. She was a great cook and enjoyed spending time doing crossword puzzles. She loved sports on TV, especially golf.
