The family of Hugh D. Miller regrets to announce his peaceful passing in the presence of family on May 1, 2016 at the age of 84 after a battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his parents Charles Cooke Miller and Gertrude Griffiths Miller and 3 brothers, William, Roscoe and Charles. He is survived by his wife of 60 years this summer Vera Alice Miller age 84 of Haileybury, his sister Joyce MacNiven (Douglas)of Kitchener, three children, Kevin Miller (Mary) of Cochrane, Lori Keith ( Gary) of Chatham and Grant Miller (Cindy) of Cochrane. He had seven grandchildren Kimberly Regimbal (Jay ), Jason Miller (Kimberly), Jeff Keith (Leslie), Craig Beadman (Adrienne),Dan Miller ( Vanessa ), Bryana Beadman, Nick Beadman, Also 4 1/2 grandchildren, Asia, Hydra, Wyatt, Kaylie, and soon to be born, baby Regimbal Hugh was born March 28, 1932 in Rouyn, Québec, the youngest of 5 children. He married Vera (Dube) in North Bay on July 21, 1956. Hugh and Vera lived in North Bay, Rouyn, Noranda, finally settling in Engelhart in 1975 until 2015 when health issues of both made them give up their home there. He had been retired for many years from Ontario Northland Railway where he rose through the ranks as Electrician to Equipment Foreman. After 38 years he hung up his hat but still remained on top of all the company news. Hugh was a past Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge and proud of his service. He and Vera volunteered with meals on wheels and at the Anglican Church. He was an avid gardener and their home was always a beautiful addition on their street. He loved camping and they traveled throughout Canada becoming somewhat experts on the flora and fauna. Though he never did get his airplane licence he was a aircraft enthusiast throughout his life. Hugh always seemed to know about any subject so was relied on for advice. A bright conversationalist, he was well liked. He will be sadly missed by all. In Keeping with the family`s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. In memory contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society will be greatly appreciated.
