Though we didnt know Hughie that well personally, we did meet him several times through the years and also knew of him from references by our parents Gordon and Georgie. Whenever his name came up it was said with such pride and respect, we just knew he had to have been a special friend and great fellow Officer. In the past few years Hughie was in TPR when our brother Butch was in there. Rick and Butch would frequently visit, and sit and talk with him, enjoying his company. Butch remembered him well working with him as a member of the O. P. P. I’m sure he will be greatly missed, but we believe he must be in a special place for those wonderful people who have served us all so very well as public protectors. I was very sorry to learn of the passing of Hugh, worked with him for a number of years at the Kirkland Lake Detachment. He was a great guy and wonderful to work with.

I remember Hugh and your Uncle Alex visiting our home and vice versa. Please accept my sincere condolences on Hughs passing. He did the background investigations on both Dave Brown and myself when we applied to the O.P.P. 44 years ago. I have many fond memories of Hughie over the years. Always smiling and a true gentleman.
